Bio

The Action Item came together when singer/songwriter/guitarist Costin Tuculescu began seeking out other talented musicians to deliver his riff driven, wall-of-distortion rock music. Bassist Carl Whittington soon joined Costin, bringing in influences ranging from Midwestern folk to funk along with a mellow, smooth vibe to the songs. Guitarist Ryan Tarkanian joined the duo bringing with him harmonic layers of sound, complex rhythms, engaging melodies, and a quirky power-pop sound that had been lacking. Drummer Gabe Soriano, influenced by everything from Sinatra to Slayer, rounded out the group by injecting his diverse musical style to the alternative rock based mix. Forging their various influences, the group began defining their unique musical style by playing many shows in and around Orange County and Los Angeles.

The Action Item soon became regulars at local hot spots including DiPiazza’s in Long Beach, Gallagher’s in Huntington Beach, the Back Alley in Fullerton, and The Good Hurt in Los Angeles, which allowed the band to quickly build a fan base through a steady following of friends, family, and local music fans. Soon, the demand for an album became prevalent and the boys quickly began planning their debut EP.

The Action Item emerged from the studio with an 8-song audio assault titled “Life As Usual.” A wide assortment of introspective lyrics, 3 part vocal harmonies, screaming guitar solos, chunky bass riffs, and punctual drum beats await the courageous listener of this ambitious debut album. With “Life As Usual,” The Action Item is out for blood, ready to engage listeners with a diverse spectrum of musical ability. They look forward to playing more Southern California dates, radio shows, local summer festivals, multi-state tours, and any opportunity that awaits them.
