Bio

Since formation, the group has stacked up rave reviews and write-ups, and have received the thumbs-up from such diverse entities as the Strummerville Organisation to Bez (Happy Mondays)! This recognition has been replicated on the live scene, with an acclaimed 2011 Isle of Wight Festival appearance along with 2012 Guilfest Main Stage and Strummer Of Love Festival performances further enhancing their reputation.
OMH reviewed their Guilfest performance in as “The best of the day” and This Festival Feeling in 2012 enthused that “The highlight of the day was definitely The Activators – whose set of reggae/ ska tinged punk was more like a party than a gig.”

Their energy, style and liking for utter mayhem have made them undisputed crowd pleasers and led to them becoming regulars on the festival circuit in the UK and in Europe. 2012 has seen them tour extensively from Newcastle to Taunton, from Manchester to Camden and beyond sharing the stage with a range of ‘greats’ from Jimmy Cliff, The Beat, Olly Murs, The Dub Pistols and Bruce Foxton to name but a few. Recent international slots have included headlining festivals in Italy and Iceland.

Don’t take our word for it, have a glance the sort of live show they put on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKQgVoBCO3s

The Activators’ line-up includes the world-renowned percussionist and producer Pablo Cook, formerly of Joe Strummer and the Mescalero’s, Pulp, Moby and Lily Allen fame. Pablo adds quality percussive grooves to the band’s mix of highly original tunes.

The Activators have received much acclaim for their sensational and chaotic live shows. Their songs have a political edge and depth, yet maintain a catchy immediacy that makes them irresistible to live audiences. They are, if you like a “good, old fashioned let’s have a good time” band.

With the forthcoming release of the line up’s new material and a series of Festivals to play, 2013 looks like being an exciting year for The Activators. One thing is for sure, when The Activators walk on to any stage, things start to get … interesting! Radio Rise Up Calling...Music Beyond Boundaries - check it out!!
