"An Outstanding Album!!"

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding album!!, July 8, 2008
By Ian "jetsfan1980" (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
In one of the strongest debut efforts in some time, Adam Cambria has burst onto the jazz and R&B scenes with tremendous force! His special brand of Jazz/Funk/R&B fusion has produced one of the finest albums I have had the pleasure of listening to recently.
First Song starts out wonderfully, with the title song highlighting Adam's sax over an upbeat, funk-influenced track. His range is showcased throughout the record, from the slow and sultry "Unwind Your Mind", to the guaranteed head-nodder, "The Beat".
The latin-influenced "On The Town" reminds one of steamy nights on South Beach with mojito in hand, and my personal favorite, "Walkin'", lives up to it's name, conjuring up images of a summer afternoon walk in the park. Finally, Adam shows us how beautiful the saxophone can sound on "Song For Sunshine", a simple and, at times, melancholy song.
First Song is a fantastic album, and I highly recommend it to fans of all music. Expect to hear a lot more of this young man in the future.

Bio

Though his musical career has been relatively short compared to some of his other contemporaries, his extreme dedication to his instrument is evident in the prestigious awards and scholarships he has won, including The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, the Woody Herman Jazz Award, Gold Coast Jazz Society Scholarship, Hall/Hill Performing Arts Scholarship, and the Berklee World Tour Scholarship.

Adam has appeared with such musicians as Vincent Gardner, Ira Sullivan, Marcus Roberts, Jason Marsalis, Deborah Brown, Duffy Jackson, Scotty Barnhart, Jason Hainsworth, Paul McKee, The Michael Foster Project, Miguel Reyna, Rodney Jordan, Leon Anderson Jr., and many others.

Adam is currently a student at Florida State University, majoring in Jazz Performance. He sits lead chair in FSU's acclaimed Jazz Ensemble I and frequently performs with the Leon Anderson All-Star Group. Adam's passion for music is being fed by the creative musical atmosphere at Florida State as he continues to pursue his own unique and soulful sound.

"I try to find a good balance between jazz and R&B, the two main influences on my playing....and will continue to fuse the two in creating my own sound. My music is a special part of me...I am delighted and honored to share it with anyone who has ever had a love for music."

The Adam Cambria Project regularly performs in their local town and many venues statewide. With the release of his debut album, "First Song", Adam and the band will be kicking it into high gear for the rest of 2008!
