Bio

“If we can’t get it, we’ll just figure it out”. The Addy Janes chance motto has stuck and seems to make perfect sense, probably only to them. The all-female duo, Ashley (vox, keys, percussion) and Carlan (guitar, mandolin, percussion) has been figuring out how to blend their folk and pop roots with contemporary indie and electronic inspirations into their present day sound.

They might not ever “figure it out” but they’ll find merriment in the process, creating and performing earnest homemade songs that sneak into your head, make you consider, grin, tap your toes, and clap your hands. Minus a couple failed short stints with formal trumpet and piano lessons, both are self "taught" by following their ears (and hearts). They don't know much about music technically, but they do know how good it feels to make it. And while making light of things is a specialty via live show, listening closely to the carefully crafted songs will prove they do otherwise. A fair amount of experience under their suspenders, the release of their first EP, Made for You, has launched them into their next GPS guided musical adventure.

No strangers to the stage, members of The AJs have been performing at local and regional venues since 2003 including Shank Hall, Milwaukee Pridefest, Twin Cities Pride (Minnesota), Chicago's Elbo Room, former King Club (Madison, WI), and numerous other venues accompanying national touring acts such as Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion, Sick of Sarah, and LP. They can get awful comfy up there, playfully mocking each other and divulging particulars you may not want to hear about, but that will undoubtedly make your side hurt, in a good way.

The Addy Janes know how to put the right amount of sound in all the right places. Is that similar to having friends in low places? At any rate, feedback is nothing but positive from concert goers about this duo act. Check them out for yourself at their next show!
