"Adelines - Little Games"

This Swansea foursome are headed up by Jennie Morris on lead vocal and guitar and Little Games is a neat tune. Personally I find there’s a distinct lack of melody driven indie rock about at the moment. To hear Jennie’s vocal really take off in the chorus of this song followed by a lovely jangly guitar riff is a welcome relief. Expect to hear this on a TV show near you soon: Hollyoaks? Lip Service? Could soundtrack an angsty montage brilliantly. - Fresh On The Net

"The Adelines – Little Games"

Rating: 9/10

Fresh from the Swansea scene, The Adelines are a band that you’ll want to remember, well that is if their debut single ‘Little Games’ is anything to go by.

As far as impeccable introductions are concerned, the track covers all the criteria; inviting, intriguing and more imperatively, it is memorable.

Indeed, the tune comprises of distinct layers, on the surface we’re presented with an upbeat indie-pop band, but scratch a little deeper and you discover bittersweet lyrics.

It is an unexpected concoction, yet the melodic guitars and percussion prove to complement the woeful words of frontwoman Jennie Morris brilliantly.

Sound and style wise, The Adelines are not too dissimilar to Canadians Metric, which is all the more encouraging when you consider how well it has worked for the latter.

‘Little Games’ is a wonderfully refreshing indie-pop anthem, from a group that we are sure (and want) to hear more of. - South Wales Sounds

"The Adelines"

The Adelines are a four piece band from Swansea comprising of Jennie Morris on (vocals/guitar), Anton Dodwell (guitar), Eddie Russell (bass) and Ray Thomas (drums). The band formed in 2011 and rather sweetly took their name from a neighbours cat.

The band have already gained a large local following and received support through Amazing Radio’s Bethan Elfyn who recently made them her ‘artist of the week’. The organisers of Swn festival have also spotted their potential and snapped them up to be included on this years bill.

Their charming indie/pop sound draws comparisons to a number of indie flag bearing chart invaders such as Tribes and The Vaccines, but also to a number emerging artists such as Dublin’s The Riot Tapes and fellow South Walians The School.

The band’s new single ‘Little Games’, which is available as a free download, sums the band up perfectly and whets the appetite for what’s sure to be an exciting next twelve months.

"For The Calmer Ones, May I Introduce The Adelines"

All I talk about is heavy music on this blog, so I thought I would change it up a little bit today. Here, ladies and gentlemen, is The Adelines, a brand-new group of fresh Welsh musicians. Instead of punk or metal or whatever else I cover on this blog, this band is an indie pop group. Crazy, right? Yeah, it even blows me away. But, let us talk about the band, shall we?

As they eloquently put it on their website, “The Adelines are a guitar-driven quartet comprising Jennie Morris on vocals and guitar, Anton Dodwell on guitar, Eddie Russell on bass and Ray Thomas on drums.” It also is a very accurate description of them, as their debut single, “Little Games”, is completely guitar focused. It has almost a “Treefingers” style to it, with lead guitar playing soft little melodies and the rhythm guitar almost just creating ambiance in the background. It makes everything feel airy and kinda spacey, but still has that Best Coast, surf-and-sunshine feel to it. - Magic Chords

"The Adelines"

The Adelines are a guitar-driven quartet comprising Jennie Morris on vocals and guitar, Anton Dodwell on guitar, Eddie Russell on bass and Ray Thomas on drums. Formed in 2011 and named after their next door neighbor’s cat, they cut their teeth playing house parties in Swansea and pricked ears with their tom-boyish vocals, jangly reverb-guitars and warped pop sensibilities. - Beat Review

"Little Games"

I honestly couldn’t have come across this track at a more perfect time. The Adelines ‘Little Games‘ is full of sweeping bittersweet vocals backed by vigorous guitars. The ever so familiar lyrics are enough to bring a sharpness to your heart, perhaps a recent memory of heartache. I mean those words in a good way. ‘Little Games’ is like a coating over your emotions, music for your feelings that aids in your relief. - Dingus Online

"The Adelines – Little Games"

The debut single from this Welsh quartet is like a brattier version of early Jezabels. Front-woman Jennie Morris’ self-described ‘tomboyish’ vocals amps up ‘Little Games’ with some attitude. The catchy guitar hooks on this riff driven song blurs the lines between indie, rock and pop. Let this single warm up your Winter with it’s summery hooks and indie-pop sensibilities.
