The Aftereffekt

The Aftereffekt

BandRock

A sentient form of discovery, communicated through music. A progressive style of rock that not only has appeal, but has its own life.

Biography

John Worth, a Keyboardist of 20 years and the originator of the Aftereffekt, realized something after a long string of musical endeavours and failures. Cover music was not rewarding enough, regardless of how popular the band was, and regardless of how much fun it was to play on stage. Far and away, the priority was the composition and arrangement of original music.

Initially, the Aftereffekt was going to be a home-made project. Everything written solely on keyboards, with recording and sequencing software. When a few of the songs were written and reviewed by the public, John got enough feedback that basically said it was good music but antiseptic. It needed organic instrumentation.

The most difficult part of a band is finding the perfect members. Many groups will die in this stage. For the Aftereffekt, more than a couple of years had passed with a revolving lineup. Finally, the dream group was just... there, with everyones motivation, attitude and talent. Great players all, and a good learning process through all the trials, so in the end it was worthwhile.

The Aftereffekt is not mainstream. What their music is, is different without being strange, catchy without being commercial, aggressive without being tiring. Though the musician have written and played for showcases, theatre, institutions for the arts, composed radio (DJ) launch themes, studied at peabody, etc etc... the end result of the bands interest is to write and play good music. Hopefully catch the attention of a prog label, and begin a career in the media / soundtrack industry.

Lyrics

The Celestial

Written By: Bryan Tucker

The more I learn
the less I find I truly know
I am lost
Just as I wanted

Here you come
a distant star I could not see
Still it shines
bathes me in heaven

-Chorus-

Don't be afraid
to wonder if I'm smiling
Don't be afraid to keep me to yourself

We are a wave
directionless but constant
Don't be afraid
to know what I am
-----------

It's what you are
that keeps me wrapped in doubtless arms
We are the dream
this is our nature

And here you are
lovely and yet wrapped in scars
There is no pain
I would release you
---------

-Chorus-

Don't be afraid
to wonder if I'm smiling
Don't be afraid to keep me to yourself

We are a wave
directionless but constant
Don't be afraid
to know what I am

---------
are we not made
born to be saved
are we not anxious
to bend our own will

[outtro]
are we not afraid
are we not afraid
don't be afraid
never fear
...never fear
......never fear
to know what I am.
to know what I am.

Perspective

Written By: Bryan Tucker

In the midst of a void it comes back
with no burden of proof, no charms to entice.
And the lover that seeks to be locked in its arms
will come to find it's a beautiful vice.

But you know, the bliss isn't free.
In this Perspective, the options are empty.

Well there's nothing left to be done
but watch as we drift to the center.
And all that never felt simple clarity
still have a good thought through paralysis.

God may have claim on my soul,
but I'm not giving it over.
Every temptation still finds its mark.
While there is breath it is drawn to the shadow...
to the shadow...

Still livin' in the minds eye.

By the depths of our souls we are measured
While riding once here from othersight.
Still the center is where we are drifting
It's the weight of the purpose,
a balance of some kind.

It's a balance of some kind.

Still livin' in the minds eye.
Still seeing with the minds eye
The perspective in my eyes
Still driving on with blind eyes.

Still livin' in the minds eye
Still sing with the minds eyes
The perspective in my eyes
Still driving on with blind eyes.
