"Boo-yaa!"

Some prefer to get their Halloweenery over with nice and early so that on the day itself they can devote their full attention to not opening the door for nougat-starved children. As such, the selection of bands tends toward the 30-plus-but-still-degenerate crowd. Across town at Porter Belly’s Pub, the Alpacas threaten double trouble, drafting one set as JOHNNY CASH (in a three-person black suit, perhaps?) followed by another as the POGUES. The strategy here seems obvious: 1) get drunk; 2) then get drunker.

"Boubon's Summer Lineup"

Bourbon's, a bar in Portsmouth, NH, seems to love to play with the sounds of the stereotypical New England accent on their website as the spell out "baahhhhhhr" and add comments like "a wicked good band" to listings on their MySpace page. However, that grating accent isn't the only sound piping from within. The venue has released their summer lineup featuring The Alpacas, who are performing on July 19, have a catchy toe tapping sound in which all of the band members contribute vocally and are led by magnetic singer Jackie Abajoli.

Bio

The Alpacas are a Five piece original and cover band from Massachusetts. Their original compositions span an eclectic range from their folk country and bluegrass roots to modern rock reggae and punk. Their base of cover tunes is derived from Rock n' Roll, Reggae and Soul spanning roughly forty years of modern music.
Jackie Abajoli studied at Berklee College of Music. She started writing music at the age of fifteen and at sixteen was singing on local television and large youth conventions. Her influences include local Folk and Blues acts, which she grew up listening to on the radio along with Motown, Soul and Vocal Jazz. Pete Abajoli was playing bass on the Boston music scene since he was sixteen, playing in several pop punk/ska bands of the time. He also currently plays bass with Superlow, a Boston rock standard. His musical backround is based in Motown, Punk and straight-up Rock n' Roll. Jeremy Howard is also a veteran of pop punk/ska bands and is currently the percussionist for The Uplifters, a smash reggae act. His influences include Reggae and Latin rhythms as well as a smattering of Rock and Motown. Elroy Alpaca's began playing guitar at fifteen. His homegrown style comes from early years of Country and Rockabilly, he cut his chops in the barns and backyards of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His vocal influences include Otis Redding, Maynard James Keenan and Tom Waits. The Alpacas pride themselves on their diversity, and when it comes to tunes, we have something for everyone!!!
