Biography

Thea Monyee is rapidly becoming a respected and highly requested poet. Her accomplishments speak for themselves. Besides being a regular at LA’s Poetry Lounge, Thea has performed on HBO's Peabody Award winning Def Poetry Jam series twice and on BET's "The Way We Do It.” Her live performances include 100.3’s The Beat in Los Angeles, HBO's "Light as a Feather Fashion Show" and Isaac Hayes’ "Downtown Comedy" at his restaurant in Chicago. Thea was also a member of the 2002 Los Angeles Slam Team. In 2005, Thea’s Black History Month promo which was directed by actress Kim Fields aired on Nick@Nite and the TVLand cable channels. Her versatility ranges from no nonsense, relationship hangover, bitter woman vibe to funny and revealing life testimonies.
