Bio

The Angry Years are Sean Fennelly, Juliette Jackson and Joss Lindey, from London. They have been playing together since 2008.

They met at sea. Worse things have happened there.

Their music is strict, minimalist art rock, instructed by Theo Van Doesburg's De Stijl principles of simplicity and reduction:

"The white canvas is almost solemn. Each superfluous line, each wrongly placed line, any colour placed without veneration or care, can spoil everything."

Accordingly, they are influenced by anything - from New York no-wave disco to snapping '00s Neptunes productions - that prizes clarity and power over bluster and bombast.

Lyrically, The Angry Years try to redefine the boundaries of pop music's vocabulary; eliminating crass mid-atlantic slang, nonsensical metaphor and limp innuendo to leave a singular, dry, judgemental voice, free of cliche.

Live, their music is performed solely with two electric guitars, drums and sampler.
