"Top 5 Best New Artists"

"The Archives are slowly digging out authenticity out of a community’s expansive self that’s never really lost it’s edge. In the Toronto-area, they’re an emerging rattle of rock and punk dying to breed to be louder with each chord progression, carving yelp and live blast of traumatizing alternative. As their studio time is pushing out some definitions for “heavy”, it’s all the more reason to anticipate sessions that cauterize as every second passes." - BLARE MAGAZINE

"The Archives"

These guys may not be rocking the world over yet, but they sure sound like they are. Soaring anthemic rock, infectious energy, and guitar-driven propulsion blended with undeniable live swagger. Onwards and upwards for the band. - Lonely Vagabond

"NXNE Day 5"

The Archives were up next. I hadn’t seen them before, but had heard of them a few times (via Sandman Viper Command). They were the best of the night, on this night. During the DGB, more people had been filtering in and once the Archives took the stage, it was clear they were here for them. Catchy hooks and soaring riffs with clear, fast vocals pretty much defined the performance. That and energy; energy onstage was a defining factor as well. Also, as it was Father’s Day, one of the members’ father was in the audience and he got a much-appreciated shout out (double points!). They’re in the midst of recording new material right now, so keep an eye out for that. I will. - thetakemedia.com

Bio

The Archives have built themselves into something that truly fights against the tide. Experimentation and fearless evolution have contributed to a very unique sound. While exploding, angular elements of guitar chaos and dissonance resonate throughout their songs, rhythmic and melodic hooks are always the foundation of their sound.

This 4 piece Alternative Rock band is comprised of Anthony Menecola (Vocals, Bass), Crispin Day (Guitar), Will Gooch (Guitar) and Kevin Cardenas (Drums). Founding members Anthony and Crispin have been striving to push their unique brand of post punk/alternative rock to a new height for the past 4 years. After a line up change in 2011, Kevin and Will joined The Archives and have since contributed to the re-birth of The Archives sound.

In 2012 the band shared the stage with great acts such as Dinosaur Bones, The Balconies, The Reason and O' Brother gaining notice as "one of the tightest bands Toronto has produced" and were noted as one of Blare Mag's bands to watch of 2013.

This year marks the beginning of a new phase for The Archives. With multiple 7" releases already in the works and an East coast tour slated for late may, the band is determined to make their presence felt in 2013. They have to this point done everything D.I.Y., perhaps not by design but the experience has taught this up and coming Canadian band what dedication and hard work can achieve. As they press on into the year we can all hope to hear more from The Archives.
