Bio

In a world where music is being put out in a fast food, processed-like manner, it is great to digest some true art. Enter The Art of Chante: A Texas rapper who can fuse the signature sound of the state with the new school vibes in a manner that still stands out.

Born and raised in Winnie, Texas, Brittany Chante Levier always had a love for music. At Sterling High School, she demonstrated an exceptional skill for music when she joined the band. Levier had talent in other areas as well which is why she landed a partial scholarship to Princeton for academics and athletics. However, she turned it down to attend Texas State University, where her music would ironically go to another level. She soon started writing lyrics as well as producing, and eventually joined an organization called Hip Hop Congress, where she met other artists such as TommyBoy and B-SimmS. It was here where Chante – known as B. Star at the time - started showing her MC skills, by performing at events as well as displaying her talent in producing beats.  Soon, she was not just known as “the girl who hung out with TommyBoy.”

Chante did not keep her talents strictly to herself or even at campus. She was featured on a couple of Royal Records’ projects (Cakewalk Mixtape and B-SimmS’ Menace to Sobriety) with standout verses and tracks. While still majoring in Computer Science and being president of HHC, she managed to continue producing and perform at a number of venues between Austin, San Antonio and Houston as well as open up for artists such as the legendary Scarface. Chante even linked up with TommyBoy and SimmS to form a clique known as Party at the Crib Entertainment. She was even featured on the blog Trashbagdreams.com. In 2010, she released a collab project with fellow rapper, Aye Cue, entitled Flight to Alcatraz. It was a huge hit on campus as well as online, being featured on HotNewHiphop.com.

In 2011, Chante left Texas State but still has kept up and elevated her music. She changed her rap name from B. Star to The Art of Chante and is still producing as well as working on her debut album. Right now Chante is releasing her EP, Live at Five, which she produced and wrote on her own. She even did the artwork which highlights her Tomboy Next Door demeanor found in some of her music.  The lead single is “I Will” featuring her cousins PHAT and Asia Coleman. In addition to that, you can catch her on the upcoming untitled Party at the Crib EP in which she produced as well.
