Bio

The Atlantic Divide, from Chicago, IL, came together in December 2003 with the idea to finally create the music they had each been waiting years to play. Nearly one year later, the band has spent many months creating music that hints at an array of influences and suggests great things to come. A well received debut show at Subterranean in November 2004 gave the impression that this three-piece band has been focused on creating a richly textured, post-modern sound. They recorded a foursong demo in August 2004 at Million Yen Studios in Chicago, and look to the spring of 2005 to record again. There is an obvious British influence in their songs, with bands likeThe Cure, The Smiths, and The Catherine Wheel having long been influences to singer and guitarist Michael Gallegly, and bass player Joe Palacios. Drummer Fred Frey brings similar influences, and the band has found it's calling in creating intricate and atmospheric songs that while often haunting and dark, explode with emotion and passion for telling a story. These are songs about love and disaster, space travel and explorers, final moments and human desire. The Atlantic Divide are glad to be playing together and look forward to playing in Chicago and the Midwest throughout 2005.
