Bio

Weaving their life-sparks through wires and skins into a collective energy that finally condenses into great music, The Attic Recordings harness their ids for the greater good. Although each member brings his own musical tastes and experiences into the mix, The Attic Recordings' sound is spliced together, like the DNA of some genetically-engineered hybrid, fused with the catalyst of common intent that is, to compose rock songs that are stirring, intelligent, and unforgettable. The Attic Recordings' sound defies comparison or categorization, but here goes: one can discern shades of Interpol, My Bloody Valentine, The Sea and Cake, with hints of Post-Punk. However, there is no mimicry going on - the music is honest. The band's aim is to write and play original and well-crafted songs. Chris, guitarist and vocalist, being compliant with the sprites of inspiration, creates fine, fine sounds on his six-string without the need of a cumbersome pick. Nick's bass playing makes every song interesting, yet you don't know how or why. Aaron, guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, navigates wildly over his instrument and effect-pedal array. Josh holds himself drummatically responsible for ensuring that listeners are never wanting for a bold, inventive beat. How'd The Attic Recordings get together? Chris and Nick have known each other forever. Chris played the guitar, inspiring Nick to learn. After years of working together on a variety of projects, Nick strapped a bass over his shoulder. He was really good at it, so he left it there. They met Aaron, who knew how to do a bit of everything, and so they decided to find a drummer and form a band; the band was Black Giraffe. They performed in various venues in Chicago, until their drummer, Matt, went on to pursue painting. In the winter of 2004, they placed an ad and found Josh; the collaboration was instant synergy. To mark the occasion, they decided to change their name. They are now The Attic Recordings.
