Lyrics

Clockwork

Written By: Mark Gustafson/ Ian Zander

My Midwest portrait isn’t plain.
I lost my motives when my head came off
I’m going insane.
18 and knowing who to be
I lost my innocence in magazines and T.V. screens.

And I really shouldn’t like you
And you really shouldn’t dig me
But like clockwork it continues
It won’t stop tick tock but that’s what really hurts

Another Midwest love affair and it’s always been this tough
I’d like to take you all along but it’s never good enough
Midwest love affair… it’s not enough
It’s always this tough but it’s not quite good enough

My Sunday’s best is off the rack
One lean jean jacket and some denim slacks is all I have
One half is knowing who I am
I lost my money in a late night infomercial scam

And I really shouldn’t like you
And you really shouldn’t dig me
But like clockwork it continues
It won’t stop tick tock but that’s what really hurts

Another Midwest love affair and it’s always been this tough
I’d like to take you all along but it’s never good enough
Midwest love affair… it’s not enough
It’s always this tough but it’s not quite good enough

My Midwest portrait isn’t plain…

And you really shouldn’t like you
And you really shouldn’t dig me
But like clockwork it continues
It won’t stop tick tock but that’s what really hurts

Another Midwest love affair and it’s always been this tough
I’d like to take you all along but it’s never good enough
Midwest love affair… it’s not enough
It’s always this tough but it’s not quite good enough
