The Avenues
"Jagged Pixie-esque guitars, swirling Hammond swells, with an elemental stir of Spoon-ful groove - layered and lush with a darker edge."
Biography
The Avenues
Two EP’s down, one killer debut album ready to roll. Life for The Avenues is about to get busy.
Formed in 2003, The Avenues have made a name as one of Perth’s best exponents of melodic rock. With two successful EP’s (The Avenues – Feb 2004/ Slow Moving – May 2005) that achieved national airplay and strong media reviews behind them, the Avenues have grown into an emotive and powerful outfit ready to take the next big step up.
Their live shows are tight, captivating, with a powerful dynamic presence. Playing with some of Australia’s top acts plus touring nationally and internationally over the past three years has helped harden their gig feet that are going to carry them on up that hill.
Their forthcoming debut album ‘All That You Are’ marks the beginning of the next phase of the existence of The Avenues, with the recording marking both new song-writing styles for the band and a new depth to their sound. Eighteen songs were demoed in March 2006 with the majority of the writing coming from guitarist/ vocalist Andy Lawson.
Making themselves home at Perth’s Blackbird Studios with 2006 WAMI Award winning producer Dave Parkin (Red Jezebel/ Panda Band/ Snowman), ‘All That You Are’ was recorded from April to May 2006. With a more layered and lush sound, and an almost darker edge to the album it shows a side of The Avenues that will surprise many, yet delight even more in aural pleasure.

Sleep Till Dawn
Written By: Andrew Lawson
SLEEP TILL DAWN
She forgot to believe that it’s only in her mind
Every night a new dance but it’s always your mistake
Hey wait, I’m lonely, I’m lonely tonight
I wont sleep till the sun comes up at dawn
Everybody thinks I’m lazy
Takes me so long
Confession’s to slow and all of your thanks to blames
I’m trying to sleep but my stomach feels weak and tight
Hey wait, I’m lonely, I’m lonely tonight
I wont sleep till the sun comes up at dawn
Everybody thinks I’m lazy, falling for things
I’ve not kept, I have none
It takes me so long
What you wanted, can’t make it
Let me fall I’m tired of being
There’s no sunrise
I wont sleep till the sun comes up at dawn
Everybody thinks I’m lazy, falling for things
I’ve not kept, I have none
It takes me so long
Easy Way Out

EASY WAY OUT
Save your strength there’s a long way to go, and I know, baby I know
Can’t loose yourself if we wont let go, and I know, baby I know
So let go, let go, let go
Can’t rescue me her blood is in my heart
Her blood is in my heart
There’s no easy release (I don’t want an easy way out)
You’re so easy to please (I don’t want an easy way out)
Pace yourself by the rhythm and flow and I know, baby I know
Were just fading it always to slow, so let go baby let go
Cause I know, I know, I know
Can’t rescue me her blood is in my heart
Her blood is in my heart
There’s no easy release (I don’t want an easy way out)
You’re so easy to please (I don’t want an easy way out)
Her blood is in my heart
Can’t rescue me her blood is in my heart
Her blood is in my heart
(I don’t want an easy way out)
Her Blood is in, Her Blood is in
Her blood is in my heart
Can’t rescue me her blood is in my heart
