“THAT SHACK IN PERTH DOWN THE BACK OF THE HOUSE KEEPS HAVING PERFECTLY STRAIGHTFORWARD BUT AWFULLY GOOD RECORDS SEEPING OUT OF IT, JOIN HERE AS SOME FORMER CARTMAN AND BORDELLO’S GET PRODUCED BY JOEL QUATERMAINE (ESKIMO JOE) AND MAKE POP/ROCK WITH GUITARS THAT HAS DECIDED IT’S GONNA BE ON THE RADIO, WEATHER YOU THINK IT SHOULD OR NOT”

“Fortunately for The Avenues they’ve managed to avoid sounding like Jebediah and have come out with a self-titled EP which is fresh, polished and enthusiastic, Having not yet seen them play I can only say that if their live performance is half as energetic and there sound half as rich as it is on the cd, then The Avenues would be a very tidy pop band indeed”

GROCK 04

“If Perth’s music scene has been “exploding” in the past 12 months then based on their 5-track self-titled EP, The Avenues are a big rocket”

“Their musical genius shines through in the first and last tracks of the record “Company” is quite simply brilliant”

METIOR

From the first moment The Avenues dipped their collective feet into the occasionally choppy waters of the Perth music scene, they automatically started to make waves, whether that be from industry insiders, radio presenters or musical punters, The Avenues have not gone unnoticed

Bio

The Avenues

Two EP’s down, one killer debut album ready to roll. Life for The Avenues is about to get busy.

Formed in 2003, The Avenues have made a name as one of Perth’s best exponents of melodic rock. With two successful EP’s (The Avenues – Feb 2004/ Slow Moving – May 2005) that achieved national airplay and strong media reviews behind them, the Avenues have grown into an emotive and powerful outfit ready to take the next big step up.

Their live shows are tight, captivating, with a powerful dynamic presence. Playing with some of Australia’s top acts plus touring nationally and internationally over the past three years has helped harden their gig feet that are going to carry them on up that hill.

Their forthcoming debut album ‘All That You Are’ marks the beginning of the next phase of the existence of The Avenues, with the recording marking both new song-writing styles for the band and a new depth to their sound. Eighteen songs were demoed in March 2006 with the majority of the writing coming from guitarist/ vocalist Andy Lawson.

Making themselves home at Perth’s Blackbird Studios with 2006 WAMI Award winning producer Dave Parkin (Red Jezebel/ Panda Band/ Snowman), ‘All That You Are’ was recorded from April to May 2006. With a more layered and lush sound, and an almost darker edge to the album it shows a side of The Avenues that will surprise many, yet delight even more in aural pleasure.
