With so many artists expressing an out-for-self attitude on todays rap scene, it is difficult to recall a time when an emcee and a producer had a relationship that was more symbiotic than parasitic. Celebrated duos like Eric B and Rakim, Gangstarr (Guru and DJ Premier), Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, and even DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince all saw their musical partnerships as a foundation, not a stepping stone to something more lucrative. One twosome hoping to add their own chapter to Hip-Hops Hall of Fame is emcee Sean Boog and producer Khrysis, better known as The Away Team.
Fans of the North Carolina-based Justus League should already be familiar with the duos work through their appearances on various JL releases like Sean Boogs vocals on Foreign Exchanges Connected and Khrysis work behind the boards on Big Poohs solo LP, Sleepers.
Working independently, Sean Boog and Khrysis stay creative and keep their sound fresh. Then, they come together as The Away Team to form a powerhouse team. In light of the 2005 release National Anthem, we are sure to receive more heat from this dynamic duo.
