Not just originals, but not just your average cover band either. We love to put our own face on a tune. And we can't stick with one genre, because we're all so different and have a feel for so many styles. But when we let that be what it is, that's when the magic happens. Bluesrockhillsfolklove.

Biography

Come through the back door, pull up a chair and get comfortable. The Back Door Band thrives on that kind of sound, the sound we find just sitting around the kitchen table, letting the chemistry happen as it has so many times before. It’s a sort of “Acoustic Everything” jam, combining blues with bluegrass, protest songs with gospel, rock with folk, traditional with originals. The stuff that lives in each of us.

Jeanne Yarrow has been singing for many years. A natural ballad singer, she’s at her best unleashing her talent on blues, gospel and rock tunes where the vocals can soar. But old - fashioned country and R&B; tunes have a place in her repertoire.
At the age of five, Jim was chosen to be the MC of his kindergarten class' Christmas play. He was first out on stage greeting the crowd and introducing the skits. Since then not much has changed.

As for Popik, at last check he has logged over 350 gigs in the last few years in over 100 different venues. In addition to recording with The Backdoor Band he has recently recorded with Jen Starr (opening act for Ray Charles) on her debut CD and received extensive airplay for the song Nothin's Guaranteed from the Ten Foot Tall Band's self titled disc.

Mark Stewart has been singing his whole life. He annoyed friends early on by inventing harmonies to songs on the radio. In 7th grade he was enrolled in guitar lessons by his mother without his knowledge. He soon added electric bass, then instruments in the mandolin family while pursuing interests in American, Irish and Scottish traditional music. This led to stints with several local Irish/Celtic bands, most recently the Immortals. He first collaborated with Jeanne and Jim in the American roots band Taproot whose legend is fast receding into the mists of time.

Paul has been playing guitar since he was 14 and has played in many bands over the years. His versatility has kept him in demand. He has played all over the tristate area including venues like the Rodeo Bar in NYC , opening up for Dick Dale while playing with a Rock a Billy Band in Asbury Park, N.J. and doing several performances at the Philadelphia Guitar show. He also worked as a solo artist exclusively in the late 70's and 80's averaging 3 to 4 gigs per week.

Based in Central Jersey, BDB features long time local musicians from varying backgrounds who have performed together in prior ensembles. While in Taproot, Jeanne, Mark and Jim performed at Clearwater and Falcon Ridge Festivals.

It’s all about enjoying the music, stretching out and drinking it all in.
