Bio
The BadSpells were born in NYC when guitarist/vocalist Russell Hughes, bassist Max Hinojosa and drummer Angelo Merendino met at a local show. The three bonded immediately and hit the NYC scene hard, creating a buzz and leaving their mark wherever they performed.
Influenced by such greats as The Beatles, Dylan, Costello, Morrissey and Zeppelin, The BadSpells have fashioned a Bravado-Pop style filled with compelling and intelligent lyrics, super-catchy hooks, hip-shaking grooves and muscular playing. Think of the BadSpells as ear candy that bites you back.
A hot act to catch in NYC, the BadSpells have built a strong following by playing clubs like Arlene’s Grocery, The Living Room, Kenny’s Castaways, The Knitting Factory and the now defunct CBGB’s. The boys are currently in the studio with producer Steve Greenwell putting the finishing touches on their soon to be released debut CD.
