he Balloon Shooters from Tbilisi Georgia formed in 2006 by brothers Sandro and Archibald Sulakvelidze. The Brothers then aged only 14 and 11 added 2 other members to the band, who were called at that time “The Smile”, by playing covers in schools. They also wrote their own songs and performed them at 2007 “Tbilisi Technical University Rock Festival”.
In 2008 they performed at the “American Music Nights” project in Tbilisi and only a year later In 2009 they were invited to open Tbilisi Open Air music festival, as “young upcoming artists” their biggest performance of the time.
In the same year they performed on the second stage of “Newcomers AlterVision 2009” Project and “Musicians for Peace” festival in Armenia.
In 2010 they won the prestigious “AlterVision Newcomers 2010 award”, arming them with even more musical achievements.
2011 became the most dynamic year for the band, performing on Tbilisi Open Air main stage, participated in the “Eventful Sundays in Signagi” festival and The New Year project “We believe in Miracles”.
The Balloon Shooters have performed hundreds of gigs since their conception with over 200 different venues under their belts. Moving from Strength to Strength and making history by signing to Georgia’s first established and only music label “AlterVision Music”, their first EP “Heartbreaker” will be available soon.
