Bio
Self-proclaimed exponents of the art of acoustic-gone-basement, "the conversation" are a tight, little three-piece, currently based in Toronto. The group is made up of Drew Englehutt (singer/guitar/piano), and Mike de Carvalho (drums). You might say the band's a bit of a happy accident, considering none of it was really intended; the fact that you're reading this drivel is even stranger still. Our story begins in London (UK) where Drew played shows solo and with a three-piece named SESH (Bull & Gate, Dublin Castle, Hope & Anchor, The Half-moon, The King's Head.) Missing home, missing friends, missing Canadian music, our travel-weary protagonist returns to Toronto with a handful of tunes. A chat with a high school buddy over pints at a neighbourhood pub, a suggestion is made, and jams are had. Jams turn into structured jams which turn into solid tunes, which surprise the hell out of them both! Demos are recorded, gigs booked, gigs played (Reverb, Stones Place, The Gladstone, Club Rockit, Kathedral, Silver Dollar, Holy Joes) and quality feedback received. So what's next? We're currently booking across southern Ontario in support of our new material. For gig info, CDs, and any kind of general stuff, you can usually find Mike or Drew lurking somewhere around bandstuff@rogers.com
