Bio

Life couldn’t be sweeter at the moment for The Banded Sound and its four musical members. Don’t be fooled by the logistics - yes, the band was formed at the beginning of 2011 but as the name suggests it is the final product of a merger of two wonderful and wacky bands.

What started off as a couple of Melbourne mates getting together to produce some of their finest music in the ordinary backyard garage has resulted in a world-wind of tours, overseas exposure and even snapping up a Swedish drummer.

Three of the band’s four members - Peter, Robby and Emmet originate from Melbourne rock band Chasing Gravity while Swedish drummer Gustav began and still currently rocks out with The Wellingtons.

The Banded Sound likens their Melodic Rock themed tunes to something in between the Birds of Tokyo and The Butterfly Effect. An alternative to mainstream rock has set the band in good stead to challenge the competitive market and leave its mark where it matters – with their fans.

The Foo Fighters, Temper Trap, Incubus, The Beatles and many more well-renowned groups have also influenced their sound making for a very collaborative, instrumental and united record.

Sounding familiar? Well it certainly should. With Chasing Gravity having been featured on Triple J and local radio stations numerous times it is only a matter of time before The Banded Sound gets in on the action.

The Banded Sound’s current single ‘Dreamt I Was Flying’ (2011) is now available for download on I-Tunes. Chasing Gravity already has an album out titled ‘Autumn in the Platinum Desert’ (2008) which is also available online.

In August 2010, despite not officially being known as The Banded Sound, the four guys set out to tackle Europe and played a very successful tour, visiting places such as London, Estonia and Finland. It was a massive achievement considering they toured with no agent or any label involvement at all.

With Chasing Gravity having hit the ground running with countless tours, ample radio play both locally and internationally, having one of their songs featured on a UK television series and video clips being aired on Rage & Channel V it is just a matter of time before The Banded Sound follows in its big brother’s footsteps.

The Banded Sound is set to release another single in the next couple of months while their EP is set for release in mid-late 2011. In the meantime a lot of studio recording is on the agenda as are gigs galore.
