Bio

Fairview thrives to make powerful, thoughtful, and interesting music that transcends genre. They stir-fry elements of jazz, punk, do-wop, progressive, folk and world music and serve it up with melody and emotion over a bed of alternative rock influence. Through their alternative fusion style, they are able to make music that is innovative, intricate, yet still very catchy and enjoyable.

As avid fans of music in all its shapes and forms, Andrew Moore, Jeremy Pugh, and Julius Woods began refining their interests long before they met.

Andrew is a graduate from Indiana State University, having majored in music performance with concentrations in percussion performance and composition. He has taken lessons with Grammy-winning drummer of Afro-Bop Alliance, Joe McCarthy and was the only student (either undergrad or graduate) to be a member of the Cramped Spaces Piano/Percussion Ensemble. Highlights of his career include meeting and performing for contemporary classical composer Steve Reich and for his drumming idol Virgil Donati. He is a highly technical player, often compared to Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio, and Virgil Donati.

Very talented and versatile, Jeremy has played drums, saxophone, flute, piano and guitar for various jazz and rock bands, all before switching to bass for Fairview. His influences range from the contemporary--Carter Beauford, Dispatch, Snow Patrol, Ben Folds, Carbon Leaf, to the classic--Bob Seger, America, Bad Company, Journey.

Julius has always been interested in music as an emotional poetic medium. His stylistic influences include A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, The Cure, Victor Lopez, Alice in Chains and the Beatles.

What came to tie these men together was their passion for the art. They experienced firsthand how a beautiful song can turn hardship into inspiration. They knew personally the overwhelming satisfaction that came from hearing just the right music at just the right time. Recognizing their own passion and talents, they came together with one goal in mind: to share them with the world--to create those moments of joy, empathy, wonder, and satisfaction in others.

There have been many ups and downs since the band's inception, and the group has mustered some cuts and bruises of experience, as well as many little victories. They have poured countless hours into work on and off the stage, booking, writing, rehearsing, promoting, funding and recording an album, all on their own terms. Fairview set goals and did what was necessary to achieve them, making a lot of people happy along the way.

The band has been dubbed "the most dynamic band" by Birdy's Bar and Grill, and even "too dynamic too quickly for the mics to pick up the differences between your louds and softs." Fairview strives to create quality music that only a band can play. Their songs are not for the last-minute read through. Each original song is composed over time and refined until it reaches its highest potential. And cover songs are chosen with great care so that it may be done the most justice that the group can accommodate (with consideration for instrumentation and personnel). Fairview will always try to bring you the highest caliber music at a level where you can distinguish the individual parts and lyrics.
