"Prana, which means "The Breath of Life", is a bright new Vermont band which recently has come onto the music scene in a big way."

"Notably, one of their "Moments" album songs, "Precious" received airplay throughout the month of April in Northeastern France on a popular radio station."

- Denton Publications

"Prana, Moments Album Review [06.09.10]"

"Indeed, from its high-gloss trappings to its ambitious, 13-track set (coproduced by Lane Gibson), Moments is suffused with worldly, veteran craftsmanship. At times ablaze and strikingly soulful, Prana’s radio-ready debut is one hit shy of a tour bus out of Burlington." -Jarrett Berman (Seven Days VT)

Bio

Transcending genres, Prana takes you on a driving cerebral journey, fueled by their intense interpretation of “rock n’ soul” to their manicfunk-driven jams, bringing to you stories of life, the real American dream, and how to, as Paul Poltz has belted, "Love Every Moment!"

The band materialized in 2006 when multi- musician/singer/songwriter/producer Paul Poltz relocated from port of the Arthur Kill River, Elizabeth New Jersey to the shores of Lake Champlain, Burlington Vermont and met stylistic drummer Dalton Muzzy and ambi-funk bassist Peter LaFreniere in a shared rehearsal studio. A simple favor to record some acoustic versions of Paul Poltz’s songs “Precious”, The Circle”, and “Moments” on an old digital recorder, sealed the fate of the young aspiring artists. Solely by intention (and an on-line add) for a dynamic guitarist, the trio got much more than that as guitarist Sam Crawford’s soul shaking licks, and incomparable signature style carved the masterpiece into form. Bringing an orchestral ivory and a scorching B3 organ, pianist/keyboardist/accordion player Terri Conti soon followed to seal the “ball of sound” Prana is known to created at there live shows.

Gigging excessively ever since, Prana took 13 of their ever expanding repertoire of songs and recorded their debut CD “Moments” being released in March 2010. Appropriately named after one of the songs that initially fused them together and representing the miracle-like circumstances that guided them to the success that they experience today. The album emits the energies of arena rock, and soul, having the same effect the body experiences when ingesting the music of Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, U2, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews and early Genesis. When asked about the album, drummer Dalton Muzzy explained, “The songs you hear on the album are about what people find in life and in the lives of others when they take an honest look”. Co-producer Lane Gibson added, “In my 37 years in the business I’ve seen many variations of music emulated and recycled. Prana’s “Moments” delivers a refreshing revitalization to the rock n’ roll industry”.

The presence of Prana is growing world-wide as they prepare to explore Mother Earth with their music, bringing great performances, feel-good atmospheres, and, as the Sanskrit definition of "Prana" implies, the vital energy needed to sustain. You are cordially invited to join them along the way.
