"Sports - Paper Symphonies"

Now don’t be put off by the name, it’s not a bunch of jocks fumbling around with their instruments pretending to be a band. It’s quintet of fun-loving musicianswho love making rock n’ roll—well whatever the genre, they make music that you just want to rock out to (organ and all).

They struck a chord with me when I saw them play live on a whim (isn’t that how discovering good music always happens?). They were the perfect soundtrack for the Bug Jar’s stage—a room covered in day-glo psychodelic swirls and an entire apartment furniture set nailed to the ceiling. They just plain make you want to dance, dance, dance, and that’s exactly what everyone was doing.

- Frank Deblase

"Sports: "Disappear""

They sound, in large part (but not only) because of their vocalist, a lot like early Elvis Costello. But in their defense, have you heard early Elvis Costello? It’s great! He was great! More bands should sound like that. This "Sports" has the best album. - Song-O-Matic

"The Band 'SPORTS'"

I tracked down the rochester new york band sports whose recent self-titled album recently hit my stereo with pleasing pop results. it’s a 26 minute charmer from the five piece band that wears its elvis costello/stiff records influences heavily and (probably) proudly on their sleeves. dig in. - Some Velvet Blog (Bruce Warren of World Cafe)

"Indie band Sports pack a punch"

a playful collection of tracks like “Side Effect of Talk” that are dangerously catchy. There is an unmistakable new wave influence in the vocals as the keys add a classic component, set off by smiling synthesizer fillers. To say it’s danceable is quite the understatement.
