"NPR's Central Standard: The Beautiful Bodies Work It"

"Your stage show leaves a lot of people breathless, wordless. It was said that you...'Frequently delighted crowds with hip thrusts and self embracing provocations that would push Shakira into premature retirement.'"
- NPR

"Pitch Music Showcase and Awards"

"The group’s whirling-dervish singer, Alicia Solombrino, shouldn’t be unleashed on a cold crowd. Once the party’s started, Solombrino becomes its life, flirting with the front-row patrons so seductively that everyone in the venue ends up pressed against the stage. When these sweaty, tightly packed fans start writhing to the rhythms, the results are orgiastic." - Pitch Magazine

"Buzzin'"

BUZZIN’
One the biggest unsigned stories of the moment is emerging from Kansas City. Fronted by the gorgeous and charismatic presence known as Alicia Solo, nee Alicia Solombrino, the band has been described as a cross between the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and No Doubt. Current single "You're a Risk" has been Top 5 phones at Modern Rock station KRBZ since they added it in August, following the band's impressive turn as the second stage headliner for the station's Buzz Beach Ball. The song has been selling almost 200 copies/week on iTunes from this airplay, and KRBZ has also invited the band to play the station's Xmas show in December, opening for My Chemical Romance. A busy tour schedule hasn't precluded guitarist Thomas Becker (a Harvard Law graduate) from spending time in Miami, where he is representing victims of a Bolivian massacre in a civil lawsuit against the country's former president. "SXSW 2012: Kansas City bands execute Midcoast Takeover"

"Indie Overdose"

Alicia Solombrino and the boys have played with some heavy hitters. If “She’s A Blast” is any indication, they’ll be headlining some of these big shows in the future. With fast-paced dance punk that will get your motor running, The Beautiful Bodies are on the verge of super stardom. - Indie Music Reviewer Magazine

"American Idol' auditions are in town, but KC already has some winners of its own"

"Alicia Solombrino, lead singer of the Beautiful Bodies. Her persona is punk-sexy and bawdy -- Madonna and Janet Jackson with some Wendy O. Williams." - Kansas City Star

"Middle of the Map"

"[W]e are officially in love with their live show. In the small corner they were crammed into, they found room to climb on counters, equipment and even people. Their high energy set literally (yes, we do mean literally and are using this word correctly) brought down the roof. It was a spectacular way to end the night." - Midcoast Station

Bio

When guitarist Thomas Becker approached singer Alicia Solombrino about playing music together, one small thing stood in their way: 4,500 miles to be specific. Becker, a Harvard-educated lawyer, was living in Bolivia, where he was suing the former president for human rights violations, and Solombrino was in Kansas City, making music with bassist Luis Arana.

Despite the distance, the three began writing songs together, sending rough recordings back and forth. Quickly, they realized that the chaotic blend of punk, dance, new wave, and rock they were creating clicked, so Becker put his law career on hold and joined the band. Within only a few months, the band released a single that received regular rotation on modern rock and college stations in the Midwest, and they were sharing the stage with groups like Smashing Pumpkins and My Chemical Romance. Becker moved back to the U.S., and the band has been barreling forward ever since.

Known for their charismatic (HITS Daily Double), "hard rocker" (USA Today), "high energy" (Kansas City Star), even orgiastic (Pitch Magazine) live shows, Beautiful Bodies have played with an array of artists ranging from Janes Addiction to Paramore to TV on the Radio, making converts of concertgoers everywhere they play. Solombrinos magnetic and at times, mischievous personality has conjured up comparisons to Blondie, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the Runaways. Their music a combination of habit-forming hooks and blisteringly loud guitars has been featured on television programs and at professional sports games and New York Fashion Week. The band was recently crowned the winners of Ernie Ball's Battle of the Bands, beating out 32,000 bands. Beautiful Bodies is just getting off this summer's Warped tour and is in the studio with John Feldmann (Panic at the Disco, The Used, Neon Trees) finishing a full-length album. Expect fantastically chaotic results.
