"The Bella Donnas ready to swing"

The Bella Donnas were formed when two saucy honeys got together and wrote a song about a meatball of a man they’d both dated. Aptly titled “Waste of Time,” the song turned out to be anything but and was the start of something that would soon have them both made in the shade.

Myriam and Shannon are both classically trained guitarists but Myriam rented a standup bass in late 2006 and hasn’t looked back since. Originally from Montreal she passed her childhood making faces in the mirror and doing ballet, sometimes but not always concurrently. Take a gander at the photographs and you’ll see she’s had lots of practice making faces. She’s also a swell drummer, and played in several grunge and punk bands in the Montreal and Toronto areas, including Jungle Savage Myth. Her uncle is Gaston Mandeville, the late Montreal singer/songwriter.

Shannon is a genuine Vancouverite and studied classical guitar and composition at UBC. She played guitar in sassy lassie rockers SixBlockRadius, and then fronted Minutes to Monday (more sassy lassies). She sold her soul to the devil so she could play jazz. Don’t tell her mother. As a child she liked to draw and paint and sing out of tune. She was never one for making faces in mirrors but she did like to change into several different outfits a day and parade around until someone told her she was pretty, to which she’d respond, “I know.”

As the Bella Donnas these two gals have got some swinging hooks that’ll have you grooving in no time! Drawing inspiration from the fat-heads they wasted time on in the past, nothing’s gonna put the kibosh in the momentum they have going. Don’t try to shuck these ladies with your jive talk boys…they’ll be sure to write a song about it. They’re cooking with gas, and that’s the word from the bird.

The Bella Donnas will be performing at the Canmore Hotel on Sept. 6 - The Canmore Leader

Bio

The Bella Donnas were formed when two saucy honeys got together and wrote a song about a meatball of a man they'd both dated. Aptly titled "Waste of Time," the song turned out to be anything but, and was the start of something that would soon have them both made in the shade.

Myriam and Shannon are both classically trained guitarists but Myriam rented a standup bass in late 2006 and hasn't looked back since. Originally from Montreal she passed her childhood making faces in the mirror and pining for batman (don't we all love a man in tights??). She studied ballet intensively for 13 years but in spite of this she was never able to do a handspring like Catwoman. But by golly she tried! She's also a swell drummer, and played in several grunge and punk bands in the Montreal and Toronto areas.

Shannon is a genuine Vancouverite and studied classical guitar and composition at UBC. She played guitar in sassy lassie rockers SixBlockRadius, and then fronted Minutes to Monday (more sassy lassies). She sold her soul to the devil so she could play jazz. Don't tell her mother. As a child she liked to draw and paint and sing out of tune. She was never one for making faces in mirrors but she did like to change into several different outfits a day and parade around until someone told her she was pretty, to which she'd respond, "I know."

The gals released their first EP, "Man Slaughter" in the summer of 2008, and then proceeded to tour across Canada. Once out East, they thought, "Hey, why stop here?" and flew their up-dos and red high heels all the way to London, England, where they are currently stealing hearts and stirring things up on the live music scene.

As the Bella Donnas these two gals have got some swinging hooks that'll have you grooving in no time! Drawing inspiration from the fat-heads they wasted time on in the past, nothing's gonna put the kibosh in the momentum they have going. Don't try to shuck these ladies with your jive talk boys, they'll be sure to write a song about it. They're cooking with gas, and that's the word from the bird.
