The Bends

The Bends

Our music is best described as honest songwriting, haunting vocals, catchy guitar riffs, and a truly original sound. Our music is all original stuff, full of emotion and range. Our influences are as diverse as our songs: Modest Mouse, Marcy Playground, Nirvana, Dan Bern, Bob Dylan, and many more.

The Bends are three best friends that started a band, Carlos Trujillo on vocals and guitar, Levi Sainz on guitar, and Trent Janos on drums. The Bends hail from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Originally a two-piece acoustic set, Carlos and Levi were later joined on drums by childhood friend Trent to form a deadly trident of honest songwriting, haunting vocals and a truly original sound. Mixing the heartfelt angst of a singer/songwriter with the cocky brashness of garage rockers, The Bends strongly refuse to be defined by any genre, leaping from one spot to another stylistically as they follow their increasingly prolific muse. Their hard hitting performances of all original material provoke the listener to a world of emotion and conflict. The dichotomy of their songs Tragedy (a tranquil song filled with dark vocals of a childs death) and Machine (metal-edged melody of self deprecation) shows the range of emotions in The Bends music. Having been best friends since grade school, the chemistry they have on and off stage is evident in the music they make.
