BandRockBlues

The Bert Page Band are a talented London based three-piece with bold, original songs. This music is rock that doesn't fear to travel across borders from folk to jazz. Singer/songwriter Bert plays guitar and fender rhodes while Lenny and Scott hold down the rhythm on bass and drums.

Biography

Here are three versatile, dedicated musicians who play what feels and sounds right. Bert's songs are never generic but you can still expect to nod your head to a soulful blend of rock, blues, folk and jazz.
With a background in classical music, Bert met bassist and erstwhile producer and vanguard of UK Hip Hop, Lenny Greenberg, in 2009. From there, they took Bert's existing songs and developed them into an eclectic and unapologetic album with the help of veteran drummer Scott Tayler.
This band is even more than the sum of its parts, with a live sound that goes way beyond a three-piece.

Lyrics

All Too Well

Written By: Bert Page

Treachery, vision like a fog,
The insensate will gain at any cost
And to the most undutiful -
Good god, give it a rest; it's over.
Stall the Earth; work is never done.
No Shangri-La, only places in the sun.
From alchemy to idle fantasy;
The worldly we should know
All too well.
Towers of sand, tenements of dust,
Fears long gone into fortresses of rust.
The vapour clears, our fate is known
All too well.

Forevermore

Written By: Bert Page

Calculated, codified,
Every wonder in black and white
But we're no closer to divine
Than when we started
To wonder why.
We're ever more ruled by time,
Captivated, undermined.
Our ways are weary but we don't mind,
All's lethean; the void is mine.
Destitution by design -
It happens all the time.
To fight is futile, now decide -
Your money or your life.
The craft of questions for everyone
Is mother nature's smoking gun,
Masters of want we have become
But revelation we can't outrun forevermore.

Just Like People Said

Written By: Bert Page

She's calm with questions,
She's calm with lies,
Says what's common knowledge
Is a fool's disguise but heart to heart
Is dangerous ground;
All because what goes around comes around.
She's cold for comfort,
She's cold outright;
Says 'most any movement is a futile fight
And so what happens to the 'true'
Is they fight on and on and on
Just like people said.
Well she's no lover and she's not alone -
Takes a callous girl to make this cold world home -
But tags are cheap and style a ruse;
don't cross this kind without the time to lose.
Yeah, take my advice and save yourself from certain redirection,
Just like people said.
She's calm with questions,
she's calm with lies,
Twists what's common knowledge
Right before your eyes
But conversation's dangerous ground
All because what goes around comes around,
Just like people said.

Suddenly

Written By: Bert Page

We're higher than all the ages,
We're higher than all the earth
And doubtless we will dream of the
impossible until our residence is over,
Though suddenly our days could be ethereal;
Every day a little closer.
We're higher than all the ages,
We're higher than all our words.

All The Same

Written By: Bert Page

And now to consider the falling fane
And how the familiar things seem strange;
It's all worth holding, is everyone holding out?
I called this morning but everybody was out.
I crawled this morning and everyone saw it,
Recalled a warning just to ignore it.
There's always more but it ends as a story all the same
And now to the sentiment with no name;
Somehow we remember it all the same
and all in all is everyone all the same?
There's always more but familiar things seem strange.
There must be a billion ways to describe this haze,
With each one catching more than the last.
Whatever's coming, it's coming up fast;
It may be grand but soon it will pass all the same.
