Bio

The Better Half is poised to bust out of the Philadelphia area with radio-ready hits like "Rain", off of their Equilibrium EP. Just a little over a year old, the band sounds fully formed, complete with polished vocal harmonies, huge production, and powerful guitars.

“Ray Milanese provides solid and heartfelt vocals in the Nickelback/Foo Fighters vein, though his soulfulness reminds me more of J.R. Richards from Dishwalla. Layered backing vocals in the chorus provide the hook and complete the big sound of The Better Half.” Travis Dow, Indie-Music.com.

Starting out as a local cover band playing bars in the South Jersey area under the name Outshine, The Better Half was formed in early 2009 when Ray Milanese (Vocals/guitar), Ronnie Howell (Guitar), Caleb Wahrenberger (Bass/vocals), and Patrick Keating (Drums) decided to take their music to the masses. Since then, the band has spent their time honing their writing style that now defines The Better Half, perfecting their live performances, and growing their fan base. Having opened for national touring acts such as HALESTORM, and DIVE, and headlined such places as The Northstar, The Khyber, The Trocadero, Crocodile Rock, and Arlene’s Grocery, the band has built an ever-growing fan base in NJ, PA, and NY.

While always striving to capture their own sound, The Better half draws their influences from a wide range of bands including Pearl Jam, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Tom Petty, The Beatles, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Nickelback, to name a few. The band’s musical style reflects their diverse influences and produces music that ranges from a hard rock style on “Running on Empty” to a more “rock/pop” style on “Brand New Day.”

Currently in the studio finishing their debut full-length album, the band has put together their first EP (Equilibrium) with a collection of 4 songs that represents The Better Half.
