"The "Big" Don Band"

"Big" Don Spurlin and his band are matched and seemingly born to deliver workingman's blues, from a countrified perspective. Big Don belts out his songs with the same intensity that he puts into his unique playing style. For evidence test drive "Mr. Hyde" a tune Spurlin describes as, "kind of a quit-drinking song," which honors (and immortalizes) his friend and fellow musician Jerry Eubanks' run-in with an eighteen-wheeler. So, at what point did "Big" Don know he was destined to rock? "Four," he says flatly, and when asked to explain the answer further, one realizes why he might have hoped for the initial, short response to suffice. "My mother and grandmother got me on the table and we lip-synced to 'Elvira,' " says the bespectacled bluesman with a smile. - Athens Banner Herald

The "Big" Don Band was orginally formed in Athens, Ga as a rocking trio in early 2007. The members "Big" Don Spurlin on Lead Guitar/Vocals, Brian Daniel on Bass, and Duane Poole on Drums set out on a mission to record and promote a new album entitled "Goodbye Mr. Hyde.". For the next year, the band had a positive response and performed regularly, landing a opening spot with Fester Hagood for country artist: (Phil Vasser)

After the bands release of it's first album, "Goodbye Mr. Hyde" and it's promotion. Duane Poole decided to pursue other projects and The "Big" Don Band reformed in 2008 with two new members. The line-up proved to produce a knockout combination.

Each member of the band has over 15 years on his instrument and numerous performances under their belts. The members have worked with such artists as: Thomas Tillman, Fester Hagood, King Cotton, Risin' Creek Band, Dawg Daze and Tangents.
