The Bigness

 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

Kristin is an amazing songwriter. She reaches deep inside her soul to tell what is real. Her singing is dynamic, angelic, and powerful, backed by true emotion. She captures her audience quickly and easily.

Biography

Kristin's parents always knew she'd be a performer--ever since they caught her singing The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" into their living room's oscillating fan.

Since then, she's evolved into a singer/songwriter with a ravenous appetite for composition, production, and performance (and midnight snacks). Kristin welcomes the challenge of creating simple yet engaging little ditties with an emphasis on beautiful melodies. She captivates her audience with songs that range from soft ballads to sassy blues tunes to endearing folk narratives.

Each song is a story--so grab a seat, gather round, and listen.

Raining in Philadelphia

“Raining in Philadelphia” Kristin Bigness

I want to sing a song so bittersweet, it makes the callous sigh.
There are way too many stories, chords, and lyrics I’ve been afraid to write.
But I don’t want to be scared anymore,
So here I go…

Steam floats off my mug of Lipton—perfect, sweet, and hot
And as I take a sip, the honey dances on my tongue.
Then I rest my mug against my empty chest.
I let so many take, I doubt there’s any left.

So tell me—
Is it raining in Philadelphia tonight?
Cause I’m drowning,
And there’s no one here to calm the storm from my eyes.

And I’ll flood your banks with waves of what might have been.
And I can’t save you any more than I can save my own skin.

So tell me—
Is it raining in Philadelphia tonight?
Cause I’m drowning,
And there’s no one here to calm the storm from my eyes.
So is it raining in Philadelphia tonight?

Blink An Eye

Written By: Kristin Bigness and John McCartney

I watched the whole world die today
Everything seemed strangely okay
I didn't blink an eye

The fire fell down from the sky
I thought it might be fourth of July
I didn't blink an eye

Airplanes came crashing down
And pieces rained all over town
And I didn't blink an eye

Chaos, rapture, floods, and plagues
But I stayed locked onto your gaze
I didn't blink an eye

Sunburned by the blazing stars
Drinkin' gin out of mason jars
I didn't blink an eye

Let the ants stop hillin'
The bills stop billin'
The sharks stop circlin' the ocean blue
Let the seeds stop sproutin'
The lips stop poutin'
The swings stop swingin'
But these strings will keep on ringin'

Among the Evergreens

Written By: Kristin Bigness

These walls can be so mean
These chains look good on me
And in this oppressive city heat, I just want to scream
But I don't wanna wake the neighbors

Shattered glass on the asphalt is so beautiful when it's broken
Am I beautiful when I'm broken?
Please don't leave

Cars ahead bleed red, red light
I'm not scared, I'm terrified
I crawl along but I just want to run

So go, Johnny go, get my out of this place
Fly me out on Robin's wings
Go, Johnny go, get me out of this place
Out among the evergreens
So go, Johnny go, get my out of this place
Fly me out on Robin's wings
Go, Johnny go, get me out of this place
Oh, Johnny, be good to me

Lie awake in bed, I wonder
Do my parents miss each other?
And will my daughter like her mother
And will she hurt like me?
So go, Johnny go, get me out of this place
Oh Johnny, be good to me.

Last Year's Leaves

Written By: Kristin Bigness

Sorry I lost your number
It's too bad I missed your birthday
See, my absent mind's been takin' roll
But you're not answering
The wind is picking up
And last year's leaves have blown away
They scatter just like kids at recess
Like the thoughts inside my brain

Oh, I need a weekend

I don't want to be a siren but I'm selfish to the core
I can't shut my mouth, the notes fall out and pull you to the shore
Well I've charmed a snake
I've swallowed shame
Made a boy vanish without a trace
I'll take my bow and leave the stage

Oh, I need a weekend
I'll set out on the Atlantic
Find me halfway 'cross the sea
Floating on an icecap somewhere, happily

Oh, I need a weekend
I'll set out on the Atlantic
Find me halfway 'cross the sea
Floating on an icecap somewhere
Finally free
