“Guerguerian's composition, sensationally performed, devoted itself even more religiously to the possibilities of pure sound.”

"Meeting River was one of the highest experiences in my life. Having someone in that spiritual and musical level is a great blessing for me. Life is a great mystery to live, not a problem to solve; this is true when I am with him." - Omar Faruk Tekbiliek

Bio
In 2010, fellow musical adventurists BIlly Cardine, River Guerguerian and Jake Wolf got together to play and 'the billy sea' was born. Though conceived of by Cardine, the group is ultimately a collection of prolific solo artists who have come together to achieve a collective and evolving common vision. The music, while firmly rooted in Americana and based out of Asheville, NC, pulls from all corners of the world. The members connect with these corners not just thru interest and recordings, but by lineage. Billy is very active in the acoustic music community and was a featured dobro player on Jerry Douglas' last production, Southern Filibuster. Meanwhile, Cardine's guru is the legendary Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya from Kolkatta, India. River, a dynamic globe-trotting performer and educator, is an alumni of Manhattan School of Music where he graduated as Most Outstanding Percussionist. Jake attended Ali Akbar Khan's music school in San Francisco and is at home in most any musical context. The trio has developed a powerful repertoire of music largely composed by Cardine, but arranged by all, to arrive at a sound that is reflective of the collective's diverse common ground. Each musician has had a bright career up to this point, but for 'the billy sea', this is just the beginning.
