I've been so tired of the same 'ol, same 'ol blues offerings from bands. Same structures...same sounds, same everything. Finally a new band shows some balls, and unique creativity to nudge the genre farther along. I hope you guys get noticed because you sure deserve it!

Just babes in the bustling Northwest blues scene, The Billy Shew Band playa brand of modern rock¬blues that combines the raw intensity of Kenny Wayne Shepard with the ultra smoothness ofThe Robert Cray Band.
Billy Shew got his first guitar at the tender age of 5 and promptly began taking lessons. After high school, Shew decided to take his playing to new heights and studied music theory and classical guitar in college. It was this training that enabled the guitar slinger to adapt to such diverse genres ranging from blues to jazz without missing a beat. Shew played in a variety of bands before forming his own, and when he did he enlisted three seasoned veterans to join him - Ivan Pia (keyboards), Gary Way (bass), and Hugh Walter (drums). Together, the four members began a nonstop road trip from Seattle to Portland many times over. The quartet released their debut CD, After Midnight, in January 2005. Comprising all original material, the disc showcases Shew's mastery of the Fender Telecastor but also demonstrates a keen diversity not often found on blues records. The Billy Shew Band (www.billyshewband.com) took the stage and rocked. Billy has a really tight band. Lots of breaks, tempos changes and orchestration in his style of blues/rock. Sure, some people don't think 'blues' when they hear this music but Billy and the band play with such energy and style that you’re bound to enjoy it and everyone did. Billy used to teach school but he has decided to give full time musicianship his complete attention and it shows. Best of luck Billy you have chosen a tough road. I hope everyone who reads this will get out there a little more often to support live music so that even if the road isn't paved with gold it will be well traveled by people like Billy.
