Their Sound: Indie Rock ranging from stomping rock anthems to more subtle ambient tunes
Their Birthplace: A cellar, below a kebab shop, in the heart of the red light district of Zurich
Their Name: May surprise some, The Birthday Girls are a band consisiting of 4 guys from 4 countries, and not a sweet girl in sight apart from onlookers in the crowd.
Founded in 2011, the band gained great momentum and in 2012 found themselves taking the Rock Highway competition 1st Prize and a few months later won a slot to play on stage at the prestigious Gurten Festival in 2012 and in January 2013 were invited by the world famous BBC Radio to the UK for a live session and interview on air on the BBC introducing program.
The British, Austrian, Turkish and German roots of the band are infused in their music which results in solid grooves, ecstatic guitar licks, and a voice, that some have likened to Kings of Leon, that is so unique it needs to be heard to be believed.
Their debut album, released in Nov 2012 – entitled “Trust the Girls” – is available on iTunes / Amazon. The Birthday Girls continue their journey, and are currently performing their album tour in Switzerland throughout February/March 2013
