Shining Toy Guns + Gorillaz + Yeah Yeah Yeah's = The Black Arrows. We put on a dance-club-style, high-energy show with no spaces between songs, playing rhythmic synthpop with an alternative edge. Performances are crafted to give the audience a non-stop, musical adrenaline rush.

Biography

In the summer of 2007 founding members Justin Carrell (bass) and Austin Merkley (guitar) decided to leave their individual musical projects in order to collaborate on a sound that would mix
Indie music with Synthpop. With two other members they formed a band under the name Vicious Starfish and became active performers at local venues. After releasing their first album the following year, Remember to Forget, they began to search for a talented voice to polish off their developing sound. This search led them to vocalist Ashley Rae, who joined the group as their new front woman in 2009. After some line-up changes the band was completed with the recruitment of guitarist Chris Hanna and drummer Joe Irvin.
The group, now renamed The Black Arrows, released their second album in April 2010—an eight song EP entitled “We’ve Been Saying So Long For So Long.” Patterning their stage performance on the club DJ “quick mix” method, The Black Arrows begin each song of their set exactly as the last one ends, thereby creating an uninterrupted stream of danceable rhythm. With their sound now developed and their line-up now complete, the band is beginning its marketing campaign. They are currently working on their third album.

Lyrics

Hypnosis

Written By: The Black Arrows

And I believe in the new sensation
My lullabies could light a cigarette
I'll cast a spell to catch your fascination
And then I'll move you like a marionette

Don't make a sound, just listen to me
Cold and controlled, I'll set you free
Do what you like, I like what you do
Do you like my hypnosis?
It's all for you

And I have come with an invitation
Open your mind- I've got a game to play
You need a fix- you need a new fixation
So Simon says: "take a step my way"

And all the lies that lie in wait throughout our youth
Will fade away as I seduce you with the truth
I'll let you let it go

Mary Mary

Written By: The Black Arrows

I don't believe it's fair
I sold my soul on a dare
And still they tell me
To do the things I ought to
No need to get upset
I would rather regret
What I did than
Regret what I did not do

Chasing that forbidden apple
Keeps me out of church and chapel
Why is it that no one mentions
The road to heaven's paved with bad intentions
And I, I know that it's wrong
But I kinda like it- it moves me along

And when the saints go marching in
I won't be in that number
'Cause everyone will see me
Marching to a different drummer
And when they try to make me
Drop the banner that I carry
I'll hold it high above my head
And they'll cry "Mary, Mary!
Quite contrary," ooh.

Life is a deadly thing
You don't know what it'll bring
But you know it's
Always bringing something
My innocence was lost
To the coals I have crossed
And the candlesticks
That I've been jumping

Chasing that forbidden apple
Keeps me out of church and chapel
Why is it that no one mentions
The road to heaven's paved with bad intentions
And I, I know that it's wrong
But I kinda like it- it moves me along

Pandemonium

Written By: The Black Arrows

Don't try to save me
Find someone else
I'm my own creation
It's taken me years, taken me years
To find myself, to find myself

Pandemonium is contagious
I'm crazy, but I'm courageous
Rollercoaster, head on collision
That's how I make my decisions now
Ohhhh

No more Septembers
Or cold crystal lakes
I prefer the rain clouds
I've made up my mind, to mind what I make
Of my mistakes, of my mistakes

I can make it on my own
My day has come
A day of pandemonium
It's a chemical disguise
It's the element of surprise
Atomic number is unknown
Don't as me if I'll ever come home
