The Blazing Fiddles

The Blazing Fiddles

We're a versatile group of young musicians who put on a fast-paced, high-energy show. We play music from many genres and create beautiful harmonies between three violins and piano. We can also let 'er rip with our signature fiddle set that always gets the crowd on their feet.

The Blazing Fiddles did not know each other at all at their first rehearsal in May of 2000. They we three university students who had found the greatest summer job: playing their violins at Grand River Dinner Cruises. Owners John and Luella Albin put the group together to play a show everyday before the audience goes out for a three-hour dinner cruise, accompanied by one strolling violinist.

What started as a simple idea has turned into a great venture for The Blazing Fiddles. In their second summer at "The Boat Farm" they made and released their first self-titled CD. It sold three thousand copies so in 2004 they decided to do it again with a live recording of their show. It is still in print and has also been a huge success.

The group has been hired quite a bit outside of the Boat Farm and is hoping to do even more playing in other venues. They have played events such as birthday parties, conferences, anniversaries, fundraisers and weddings.

Set List

We choose music from a variety of genres and arrange it for three or four violins and piano. Our current show consists of Brahms' Hungarian Dance no. 5, a medley of waltzes such as Que Sera Sera, a set of Celtic fiddle tunes with spoons, tunes from Oklahoma! and a rousing fiddle set to end it all off (with Orange Blossom Special as the encore).
Our regular show is half an hour but we certainly have more tunes if a longer show is desired. We also do our best to fulfill requests.
