Powerhouse female vocalist fronting moxy rock band dedicated to FUN ~ rich and thoughtful lyrics and all the 'tude & sexiness of straight rock n roll

Biography

All original, female-fronted, five-piece moxy rock band The Blind Spots is driving hard at bigger things and has been making waves at venues all up and down the east coast as they tour in support of their new album, RHIZOMATIC, recorded at the legendary Pyramid Sound Studios and released in January of this year.

The group delivers a youthful, high energy show every night with lead singer and force of nature Maddy Walsh at the helm. Her voice is gigantic, just as raw as it is tender, and the band is tight as can be.

Since the release of their debut album, El Camino Dream [2010] and their followup EP, Small Stampede [2012], both tight and inspired collections that showcase the band's early energy and expansive creativity, The Blind Spots played shows at many of the northeast's premiere venues, and after the release of their new album, they have been rapidly expanding their radius and touring constantly. Their winter tour included shows in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida (a highlight of which was the Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival in Miami), Alabama, and Louisiana.

In a musically minded town like Ithaca, virtually teeming with talented artists and good bands, The Blind Spots have really had to earn their notoriety; Ithaca serves now as a supportive springboard that allows the band to catapult into new markets. Keep an eye on The Blind Spots, as they are on their way to winning the hearts of new devotees.

Listen Up

Written By: Maddy Walsh

Give me a perpetual rainbow
give me perpetual sun
‘cause I’ve been far too long in the shadows
and I’m ready to come undone
Sought your face out in the hollows
sought your face out under the gun
I don’t believe in water this shallow
and I’m too thirsty to run

So listen up
This is it
I can’t take any more distance
I can give you love
Babe, you know we’re a perfect fit
I don’t mind your jaded head
It keeps me real well fed
Don’t wanna change or trade you up
I want you just like this

I remember you by that waterfall
four years ago today
you laid your crooked back over the rocks
you saw the possibilities
Well the sky still holds a lot for me
though infinity’s real hard to read
but the boomerang shape of the clouds today
says with you is the best place to be

So listen up
This is it
I can’t take any more distance
I can give you love
Babe, you know we’re a perfect fit
I don’t mind your jaded head
It keeps me real well fed
Don’t wanna change or trade you up
I want you just like this

Yellow to Green

Written By: The Blind Spots

Empty packets of tea
cigarette box cellophane
a rest stop like a million others
We note that this one’s clean
The scream of wheels on bridges
duck under overpasses
we shoot like plasma
through the thick of a vein
It’s you and it’s me, it’s you and it’s me
past the point of tallying sheep
It’s these crazy clocks we keep
They’ve all got A.D.D.,
and we day dream of sleep
Yeah, we dream of sleep – Sleep

The lights slip back
yellow to green
We’re speeding, remaining
kind to memory

The lights slip back
yellow to green
We bleed on splinters
we use later for kindling

The lights slip back
yellow to green
We follow our eyes
past the screen
shift to fifth
make it clean
I love the way you crash
though the ceiling

My heart beast hummingbird speed
with your hand on my knee
But I want you more than I need
to exhale, to expel the exhaustion I feel
It’s cradled between my ears, in my head
neurons jump to implode
I’m already full up, and I don’t need to make sutures
with my teeth
to keep your wounds from waking
You’ve got tough, tiny scars
and they laugh while you sleep
Yeah, they laugh while we sleep – Sleep

The lights slip back
yellow to green
We’re speeding, remaining
kind to memory

The lights slip back
yellow to green
We bleed on splinters
we use later for kindling

The lights slip back
yellow to green
We follow our eyes
past the screen
shift to fifth
make it clean
I love the way you crash
though the ceiling

Abida's Role

Written By: The Blind Spots

Abida’s Role, by The Blind Spots

I am capable
of much more than you thought
Not quite as gullible
There’s one I never bought
For a while I left it up to you
to lock up and rake the walk
I cooked your food, I stoked your fire
I complimented all you caught

You don’t feel the upper hand
once it’s branded on your head
But a trainer, a leader, a deity
shouldn’t reach for you in bed
There’s a catalog a mile long
of codes that I misread
Now I’m cursing the times I followed the road
when all the signs read DETOUR AHEAD

But this is not a game
This is not a game
I don’t want to play
And I don’t want to play

You rendered a shelter
soldered the idea of me on top
and if I was prey and your trap sure
you’d get just what you want
But prey’s just food, and prey I’m not
In my closet I keep rocks
I saved them for a rainy day
Now I need the clouds to pop

(chorus)

They taught me silence,
Obedience by violence
Cover my face, but it’s hot in here
Light is the root of your selfish fear
Light is the root of your selfish fear
but I’m learning, I’m driving,
I’m moving—you’re dying

(chorus)

Animals

Written By: The Blind Spots

Animals, by The Blind Spots

Animals, Animals, Animals,
We’re all animals
Animals, Animals, Animals,
We’re all animals
Animals, Animals, Animals
We’re all animals, animals

Apple pie, baseball, fireworks
4th of July, Marilyn and I’m
dreaming in Coca Cola, I’m dreaming

Bred to feel guilty
We’re born into bubblegum
Strong handshakes, I’d rather
kiss your cheek
Succumb, become

(chorus)

Nature, nurture
Past and future
No heart is devoid of all culture
My heart is not aligned only with vultures

(chorus)

Bouncing rubber balls inside a
concrete room
Trying to catch them every time they fall
But Bingo cards and skipping stones
won’t change the tune
You’ve gotta work

Animal State

Written By: The Blind Spots

True enough, there are reasons why
Watch the fire as it starts to die
Think of you when you’re by my side
Watch your boot tap right in time

Flip the page, another year gone by
Laundry lists but no assembly line
The day’s as new as if it wasn’t mine
Scan the ground for change to stay alive

I face you when there’s no stage
You’ve seen me in my animal state
But I’ll run to meet you more than halfway
Still a lifetime of things to say – Oh, oh, oh, OH, ohhhh!

You stay level like a Kansas miles
As for me, I’m a real live wire
Reach for you after dreams of fire
Safer with you than they are inside

(chorus)

You bloom through cracks when the well’s run dry
Harvest your hunger to help feed mine
Mean well by you when I lose my mind
Only angels and fools would rush the fault line

(chorus)

Hey, Boy

Written By: The Blind Spots

Hey, know you’ve got me on the run
Hey, boy. Hey boy, why dontcha come
Hey, know you’ve got me on the run

Love isn’t really on my mind
I just wanna spend some time near you
Babe, if you have the time to waste
I just want a little taste from you

Hey, boy. Hey boy, why dontcha come
Hey, know you’ve got me on the run
Hey, boy. Hey boy, why dontcha come
Hey, know you’ve got me on the run

Everything you talk about
my blood pumps around it
Everything you dream about
my dreams stretch around it
Every time your turn around
my eyes cut the surface
Every time we’re in a crowd
you’re the shape I notice - Hey boy

Love isn’t really on my mind
I just wanna spend some time near you
Babe, if you have the time to waste
I just want a little taste from you

Hey, boy. Hey boy, why doncha come
Hey, know you’ve got me on the run
Hey, boy. Hey boy, why doncha come
Hey, know you’ve got me on the run

Everything you talk about
my blood pumps around it
Everything you dream about
my dreams stretch around it
Every time your turn around
my eyes cut the surface
Every time we’re in a crowd
you’re the shape I notice
you’re the shape I notice
you’re the shape I notice

Try to play it cool
but I’m breaking all my rules
Sure my face gives it away
how heat builds through the day
Hotter, hotter, hotter, so hot
I don’t mind taking this off
Turn the lights on, you can watch
Hey boy

Everything you talk about
my blood pumps around it
Everything you dream about
my dreams stretch around it
Every time your turn around
my eyes cut the surface
Every time we’re in a crowd
you’re the shape I notice
Hey boy

New Persona

Written By: The Blind Spots

I get the feeling something's creeping in on me so tight
Must be from television shows I'm streaming in the night
Alarm goes off, I sit up shocked — this routine's really strange
Is there a way to keep the digital displays at bay?
'Cause it's theatrics anyway, the actors pack this place
You think you know just who are until you see your face
I'm gonna come up with a new persona

I'll throw my clothes away, I'll grow my nails, I'll dye my hair
Cultivate a foreign accent and consider prayer
'Cause it's theatric anyway, my face can be your face
You think you know just who you are until you leave a place
I'm gonna come up with a new persona

Gets too hot, throw that coat off
The weather is ever-changing
Don't be caught pacing the cages
The bars are just an illusion

An empty bank account will turn you to a junkyard dog
It's easy to forget the leash you wear you can chew off
Just smoke and mirrors, you can disappear without a trace
You think you know just who you are until you leave a place

Gets too hot, throw that coat off
The weather is ever-changing
Don't be caught pacing the cages
The bars are just an illusion
