Somehow I’m really drawn to this groove happening in there. What starts quite basic with a bass line, a guitar and those almost ‘dehumanized’ vocals evolves into a driving energetic anthem.
The harmonized vocals pave the way for the chorus lifting off the roof. While the reverbed guitar builds a roomy atmosphere, for me it feels like the vocals draw the attention back from room to spotlight. This ‘counteraction’ feels direct and uplifting. Some might say that the concept of the track is not new, and that we all heard songs like ‘Deception’ before. True, but what makes this track stand out for me is that special ‘Bluechips signature element’ (lets call it BSE…no, wait. Forget the short form.) Its a perfect mix of energetic fun lightweight feel in addition with the sound feeling free and rocking to keep both the track and its listener in constant movement.
There’s no need to talk about the flawless mix or the performance of the instruments, everything is right in place and highlighted in the exact amount needed to not disturb the other elements. So here it is, your morning anthem to get you going. The track to get you back up if you’re down. The track to get a new record for the next 10k run. You name it. Jake Albi (vocals & drums), Paul Beladino (vocals & guitar) and Tom Davis (bass guitar) are the three musicians who form the rock outfit The Bluechips. The trio is based out of New York’s Westchester County and their song “Deception” is a great way to introduce you to them. The Bluechips are a psychedelic rock band from Westchester County, NY. � Bandmates Jake Albi (Vocals/Drums) and Paul Beladino (Vocals/Guitar) are childhood friends, who have been performing together for 10+ years. The efforts of their previous band ‘daisychain’ earned them a strong local following and a spot on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour at Jones Beach. � Now, along with bassist Tom Davis, the trio are seeking a new musical direction. They’ve combined their influences to craft a fresh, new, pop yet progressive rock n’ roll sound, sharing songwriting credit, with lead vocals duties split between Albi/Beladino. The group released a 3 song sampler EP in 2018 titled "The Dal-Tex EP", which featured the single "Back Home", which occasionally played on Westchester based rock radio station 107.1 The Peak leading up to their 2018 performance at the Pleasantville Music Festival. Following this, the group continued recording their first album through much of the next calendar year while also maintaining a local following via playing numerous bar/cover (with originals mixed in) gigs throughout the NY tri-state area.
On November 22nd, 2019 the group's debut full length album 'Illegal Machine' was released, available in physical CD's and all major music streaming platforms.
