Bio

NYC-based BLUE DOG was formed in 2007 when brothers John (bass) and Scott Rohan (guitar/vocals) started having regular jam sessions with Ryan Fox (lead guitar/vocals) in Scott's kitchen in Astoria, for lack of a better space. The three of them had played together in one way or another for years and decided it was time to get back on stage. Dan Blackburn (drums) had recently moved to the NY area and Scott, John and Ryan met him one night playing beats on a bar stool in a local Queens dive. The foursome started rehearsing and within a few months they were regulars on the NYC live music scene.

Prior to the Dog, Scott and Ryan met each other in college, where they played in the Philly-based Ninja Party Lounge Band. John comes from a punk-rock background, as the first of a long line of bassists (7) for the LI punk band The Insurgent. Him and his brother Scott were looking to collaborate on a project for years before the Dog came around. Drummer Dan Blackburn comes from North Cackalacky where he played in a funk band called Domestic Blend.

BLUE DOG prides themselves on the wide range of musical styles that have influenced them and they work hard to showcase a diversity of genres in their music- from funk, reggae and jazz to rock and punk, you'll be sure to hear a little of everything at a BLUE DOG show.
