Feeling a bit camera shy

Blues bug was founded by Teo, Fotis and Leonidas and they played their first gig in 1990. In a short period of time they earned the reputation of an innovative band, incorporating elements of rhythm & blues, acid jazz, funk and soul and introducing a sound unique to Greece. They were inspired by artists such as James Brown, Albert Collins, Kool and the Gang, Meters etc. Blues Bugs’ combination of a concrete rhythm section headed by the soulful voice of Fotis Potis has gained them a loyal following.

Blues Bug have performed in all of Athens’ most popular clubs. They have also toured the whole of Greece extensively. Blues Bug average about 100 live shows a year, making it one of the top bands in Greece. One of the high points in their career includes performing as a 1960’s band in an award-winning Greek film (“Telos Epohis” Best Film 1994-Salonika Festival) in which they contributed 4 cover songs on the film’s soundtrack/CD released by Virgin. Blues Bug have been featured in various compilation CD’s. They have performed several times on Greek television and once for the French Channel MCM.

Over the past years Blues Bug has collaborated with many noted Greek jazz and blues musicians, namely George Kontrafouris, Takis Paterelis, Takis Barberis, Kia Koleman, Julie Massino and others. In 1996 the band performed with Lousiana Red and also played support for Mick Taylor & the All-Star Blues Band. Other credits include playing with Guitar Shorty and Cookie McGee.

In May 1995 the band recorded it’s first album with Live Circuit Productions. Their CD obtained flattering reviews from the press and public alike. In May 2000 the band recorded it’s second album with LEGEND titled “One Way”. This album is a collection of the band’s instrumental pieces.

After the release of their second album the band recruited Fay, a very talented female vocalist. Evolving to a more commercial approach “the blues bug” makes people dance and shake of the blues.
