The Bob Hill Band

The Bob Hill Band

 San Francisco, California, USA
BandRockFunk

Our music grooves you. We rock, we funk, we break it down slow and tell you a story. If John Frusciante and Dave Matthews impregnated Gwen Steffani and had a child that only listened to west coast hip hop in the 90's, that child would be The BHB. Yes Sir.

Biography

What's happenin Music Lovers,
This is the Bob Hill Band.

Being raised in Northern California's San Francisco and Marin, it was impossible for us to ignore the spirits. The beauty and diversity of the Bay was reflected through our earliest musical influences, leading us to funk, folk, blues, 90's rap, electronic, jazz and hard rock. From the Dave Mathews Band and Neil Young, to G-funk era Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre, to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin, all the way over to early Red Hot Chili Peppers, P-Funk or Oscar Peterson; We love it all baby.
Our mission is to bring you fresh and honest music . . . stuff you've never heard before. What comes out of BHB is completely unique, not comparable to any single artist, but representative of all our influences. We aim to throwback to the days when bands weren't one-sided; they were accurate representations of the people in them. Our music is not esoteric nor a specific slice of life. It's accessible and relevant. It is broad without being canned, it's universal without being predictable. We, the Bob Hill Band, believe that a funk band can also be a hard rock band, and can also play some slower stuff. We believe that people want to hear fresh music and see live shows. Above all else, we want the chance to change a moment in time for millions of people.

Peace
BHB

20 Somethin Baby

Written By: Grady Righthand

Oh big daddy your lips so fatty
Your jeans so ratty they can see your tatty
Got a woman named Sady and a 20 somethin’ baby
If you’re lucky she’s a lady well maybe maybe maybe
Got a mansion called the Garden of Eden
From the girl on your side you’re receivin’ what you’re needin’
Never do see that 20 somethin baby ‘cuz maybe she’s crazy well maybe maybe maybe

Remember when you said you would go far
Remember when you were a shooting star

Verse2:
Well, things were new when you’re 22
They’re different back in 62
Not right or wrong, black or white
Killin’ Viet-Kong in the dark jungle night
Well now you’re barely breathing in your Garden of Eden
You’d be dead if those pills you weren’t eatin’ eatin’ eatin’
Never do see that 20 somethin baby ‘cuz maybe she’s crazy well maybe maybe maybe

Remember when you said you would go far
Remember when you were a shooting star

Chorus:
Grey old man with soft old hands
Remember when you shake and dance

Verse3:
Oh big daddy your lips so fatty
Your jeans so ratty they can see your tatty
Got a woman named Sady and a 20 somethin’ baby
If you’re lucky she’s a lady well maybe maybe maybe
Got a mansion called the Garden of Eden
From the girl on your side you’re receivin’ what you’re needin’
Never do see that 20 somethin baby ‘cuz maybe she’s crazy well maybe maybe maybe

Remember when you said you would go far
Remember when you were a shooting star
From way back then you were a people’s king
From way back then my ears still ring

Chorus:
Grey old man with soft old hands
Remember when you shake and dance

Cherry Blossom

Written By: Grady Righthand

Come see pre sunrise picking (making) home made fire flies
No wild horses left to ride
And when the fog rolls in and no one’s around
Can’t see can’t breath couldn’t be the end for me
Not when there’s path’s left to ride

CHORUS
Cherry blossom in the wind when will you dance with me again?
Cherry blossom in the wind you left me naked on the floor.

Backyard beneath the stars a moonlit face
Then watched you blow apart a thousand ways
Wind blown far from home off the window-sill
Not when there’s places left to hide

BRIDGE
Mushroom sally better slow it down
Not when there’s paths left to ride
Mushroom sally don’t you come around
Not when there’s paths left to ride

CHORUS

That night, the floor held tight, and the fire raged
Set me free let me out of this cage
Barefoot all along the western hills
don’t try and tell me it’s a woman’s will no

CHOURS
+Extended

Now cherry come with me, I’ll show you things your eyes cant see
Not all alone at night, Not by the phone last night
Cherry blossom in the wind

Set List

Our set lists are tailored to fit the gig. We play tight high energy sets which are put together finished mix tape, never dropping the energy too much, but we never blow our wad too soon. We play almost entirely original music, with an occasional cover mixed in, and are capable of playing anywhere from a short half-hour-of-power to a long 3 hour show.
