The best kept secret in music

HOLLYWOOD, MARYLAND. (August 20, 2004):

Just months after the official release of the debut album release, Invazion of the Bodyshakers, the re-emergence of their fitness classes and a season of touring and promotion, the Bodyshakers are still on the grind! The release of the album is revolutionary as it is rare for dance fitness organizations to expand into the music industry.

Donna Jordan, founder of the Bodyshakers, is an AFAA and ACE-certified fitness instructor, based in Hollywood, MD. Her style of instruction in dance fitness involves fusing elements of African dance, Latin movements and hip-hop routines designed to introduce people to different musical and ethnic genres. The CD release follows suit, pulling from middle-eastern, hip-hop and house, while seamlessly blending dramatic drum-n-bass rhythms.

Terence Wiles, Artistic Director for the Bodyshakers and founder of Tu Wild Marketing and Entertainment (TWME), served production duties for the release. “It’s been a long, hard process,” Wiles confirmed while inside Da Spot Recording Studio in Richmond, VA.
“I actually started putting the tracks together last May,” Wiles continued. “I wound up using some stuff that I had been working on when I first started producing, but sort of rearranging them to fit the style of the CD.”
Wiles admits that while he’s gotten rave responses thus far, he’s still nervous, as this is his first major release. “It’s a work of art. It’s like a piece of me that I’m sharing with the world. I wanted it to be a great representation of me and encompass everything that Donna wanted.”
Jordan confirmed her appreciation for the project, “It’s everything I wanted it to be. There’s a difference between this style of music and the typical pre-fab fitness music. This is distinct and very wild.”

Jordan, having just given natural birth to her fourth child, is also preparing to reintroduce classes in Cardio Rhythms, Hip-Hop, and Healthy Moms in April, where she will also feature music from the forthcoming release.

“I’ve been working out like a madwoman,” Jordan said with a chuckle. “This has been rough, balancing a family, managing a business, and preparing routines for classes. But, we’ve been hanging in there. There is a real sense of excitement with this album, because it represents all the hard work we’ve been putting in for the past year.”

HOLLYWOOD, MARYLAND. (August 20, 2004):

In an age where diets have become as fickle as fashion trends, Americans have become increasingly more interested in quick-fast weight-loss solutions. Extreme cases are even opting for drastic plastic surgeries to turn their lives around. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned exercise? The Bodyshakers are on a mission to incorporate the dance and physical fitness into mix as a healthy alternative or accompaniment to the diet craze!

Spearheaded by nationally accredited fitness instructor, Donna Z. Jordan, the BodyShakers are a dance fitness organization that offers dance fitness classes for all ages and sizes. Fusing the rhythms of African drums, Latin percussion, house and hip-hop influences, they are revolutionizing dance fitness. The upstarts are storming national fitness centers in an effort to change the way consumers think and react to dance fitness.

“So many people think that dancing is just for fun – something you do when you go out on Friday nights,” Jordan explained. “But it’s actually a form of cardiovascular exercise, which is important for people who want to lose weight or just stay healthy.” Jordan, currently offering classes in southern Maryland, is currently negotiating contracts to bring their brand of dance fitness to other regions of the East Coast before going national in early 2005.

“It’s important that we continue to grow and gain exposure,” Jordan pointed out. “More and more studies are showing that some of these low carb diet solutions aren’t always healthy. Most instructors know that dieting alone isn’t the best way to lose weight and stay healthy.”

The Bodyshakers also perform regionally to help promote dance fitness and their classes. “The performances are a good way to gain attention and recognition,” Jordan said. “We often dance to original music, featured on our full-length album, Invasion of the Bodyshakers. It features Hip-hop, house, new wave and different ethnic styles, suitable for everyone and any style of dance!”

The album is available via their web site, “We really want to be revolutionary and pave the way for fitness to make a comeback!” Jordan noted. “The album is just one of the tools that we’ll use to really bring this to the forefront. People need to realize how important fitness is to their weight-loss plans and to their personal well-being!”

The Bodyshakers are currently on a promotional tour, making stops in Virginia and Washington, DC in the coming weeks.

Album: Invazion of the Bodyshakers

Single: Fire! featuring Naughty Dread

Feeling a bit camera shy

The Bodyshakers is a revolutionary dance fitness organization in that it fuses dance performances and classes with original music, produced by Terence Wiles, of Naughty Dread. The linkeage allows Naughty Dread to fuse spoken word and song -- culminating in an eargasmic explosion of dance-oriented hip-hop. The style is different. Unique. Raw. Soulful. Sexy, yet fun.

Naughty Dred. Three voices. Three hearts. Three minds. Elmira Loftin breathes life into the vocals of Fire!, the lead single from Invazion of the Bodyshakers, stirring up a raw sense of attitude, emotion and newfound freedom. Keishawna Hall's sultry vocals add a taste of sensuality before Terence spirals into a frenzy as he becomes a slave to his own rhythm.
