The Bolt Actions

The Bolt Actions formed in 2007. A group of friends wanted to start a band so they could make conversation at parties. When people called them out on it they decided to make actual music.

Vocalist Galen Pendleton and guitarist Robin Ng sought out Duncan Leung (guitar), Richard Poulin (bass) and Brad Bistritz (drums) to round out the lineup. The Bolt Actions started meshing together with covers of the Pixies and Weezer. Despite everyone's diverse musical taste, it became quite clear that together The Bolt Actions gelled. Soon enough, the band decided to write original material influenced by the people around them and the city they love, Edmonton.

The next step was to play live. The Bolt Actions were granted the opportunity to create their own music and present it to an audience. What more can any artists ask for?

In 2011, The Bolt Actions played five shows. In those shows, they've played with avant-garde artists, cover bands, live painters (it's exactly what you think it is), and good old fashioned rock & roll bands. The year concluded with the band rocking the Starlite Room for the first time in their musical adventure! That show was a turning point for the Bolt Actions. To be able to grace the stage that many of their favourite artists have played was truly an honour. As a result of that show, the band was asked to headline the venue's second stage, The Brixx, in early 2012. The Bolt Actions just plain love to play. The opportunity to perform motivates them to no end. The Bolt Actions are the way they are because simply, they just love music. Period.
