"Top 10 Awesome Moments From Nerdapalooza 2010"

The Bossfights

While MC Frontalot, the Protomen and the Megas were the headlining acts, the surprise breakout act and my favorite performance came from Zealous1 and The Bossfights. Led by Dr. Awkward and Zealous1, The Bossfights are one of those rare fusion bands that mixes hip hop and rock with fluid lucidity. Dr. Awkward, normally a very expressive but still subdued performer completely went full epic during the set with his energy level. The crowd went spastic during their performance of Zealous1’s “Headshot.” Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised by their performance and if I didn’t already know the artists individually I would have thought they were the headlining act or at least close to it. They don’t have a full length album yet, but you can head over to their site and check out the few tracks they have available for free. - Wired.com

"Above & Beyond"

Breakthrough Artist: The Bossfights

I can't exactly tell you what I expected from ZeaLouS1's new hybrid outfit The Bossfights. All I can say is that as high as my hopes were, even those paled in comparison to the grandeur of the actual listening experience. Blending searing vocals, machinegun guitars, punk rock energy and the slightest hint of funk rhythm, they are truly the breakthrough artists of 2010.

From the moment the guys hit the stage, under cover of darkness with the sounds of helicopters in pursuit, I was mesmerized. In a set that included everything from plasma grenades to a special MC Frontalot tribute track, it's hard to pick a defining moment. So instead I'll say that if you missed a second of the action you did yourself a grand disservice.

"The Bossfights release debut tracks"

Coming off of the amazing performance held at Nerdapalooza earlier this summer, epic rock group The Bossfights fronted by nerdcore rappers ZeaLouS1 and Dr. Awkward have released their first three singles for free download. The songs are available for download on the appropriate blog page.

The three tracks kick off with the zombie infested track Left4Dead, which kicks off things with a ton of energy, which you need when trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. From there we hear another great new track, Eye of the Rising Sun. With catchy vocals, and a bad ass solo, this is definitely a stand out track on the short EP. The setlist comes to a close with the tribute/nerdcore anthem Frontalots. This is a great way to end the tracks, and also a great way to be introduced to nerdcore as well. This album packs a ton of power in it, and while listening to it, it’s difficult to not get completely pumped up. I’ve been waiting for some tracks to throw on ever since these guys made their debut earlier this year, and they are certainly getting far very quickly. Definitely head over to thebossfights.com and grab these three over the top epic tracks today, they will definitely wet your appetite for both heavy rock and in your face rap.

Bio

THE BOSSFIGHTS was an idea that had been in the minds of ZeaLouS1, Kevonious, and Juggernaut for a few years. As ZeaLouS1 began plotting his next move with his music, the idea was ressurected in early 2010. The band began practicing with a number of musicians, finally settling on a key piece of the band in Jay Bishop. With Jay Bishop on board, the band began to progress in creating new material. As the band began to come together, Dr. Awkward joined some of the practice sessions which led THE BOSSFIGHTS to entice him to become a member.

After only a few months as a band, THE BOSSFIGHTS played a music festival in Orlando, FL. After their performance, the boys were named "Breakout Artist" for the 2010 year of the festival. After the postive feedback from droves of new fans, the guys began local gigging in the San Diego, Orange , and Los Angeles County areas. Since then THE BOSSFIGHTS have returned to work on their debut full length LP, slated for release in early 2011.
