"The Breeze Band has been a big part of Six Nations blues for almost three decades and has been the proving ground for many other area musicians. But the Band's first self titled CD is well worth the wait. It is a collection of raw, honest to goodness power blues with some rock and country influences sprinkled in, which keeps every cut fresh and interesting." The project at times is reminiscent of one of my favorite obscure bands of the 70's, Rhinoceros, as in the cut "woman like you". "Mystify" has a rhythm guitar hook a mile deep. Formed in the mid-80s, the Breeze have weathered many personel changes yet still have survived for more than two decades never losing the heart, sole and core of the band. Win, lose or draw, we (The Breeze Band) will keep playing on as we see no reason to stop.
Our reputation as a hard rockin' bar band, playing classic cover songs mixed with our own originals in the "mud, blood and beer" joints and dance halls across Canada/Western New York have suited our style well. We believe that "Paying your dues" is an asset, before real success can happen.....It's a task we have fulfilled ten times over. Schooled in many genres of music The Breeze have become quite versatile in weaving rock-n-roll, blues and country which can be hear on the self titled recording "The Breeze Band". This cd contains nine original tracks written and recorded completely independently.
This band is hoping to turn the page and begin a new chapter, taking our game to the next level in our career. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes or a diamond in the rough, The Breeze Band are long overdue to break the chains..... And we are HUNGRY!
2007 was a great year for The Breeze Band as they recieved favorable response and positive reviews from their first self-titled CD. In September, they traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they were nominated for a 2007 Indian Summer Music Award for Best Blues Album. In November, they were off to Winnipeg, Manitoba for the 2007 Aboriginal People's Choice Award which they garnered a nomination for "Single of the Year". The band also recieved two nominations for 2007 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards for "Best Blues Album" and "Best Rock Album" held at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Ont.
