In need of a good time? Ottawa group The Bristol Hum are a band to be watched, with a distinct retro style, informed by the 70’s — as evidenced by their hair to their rock and occasional folk tunes — but intriguingly off-set by tight rhythms, showmanship and technical prowess. The first single off their debut album, released in 2015, and featuring the vocal stylings of The Peptides, got air play locally. They are joined by Toronto’s Jim Dan Dee, offering grunge blues, and psychedelic rock from Ottawa’s Masters of Nothing. The Bristol Hum is a rock and roll band from Ottawa ON, which utilizes elements of roots-rock and funk with the added texture of flugelhorn. This fusion attempts to marry technical prowess in a way that can appeal to both discerning and mass-audiences alike. Since forming in 2014, The Bristol Hum have built a loyal local fan base and have performed regularly across Ontario and Quebec, including showcases in Toronto with Music City North, the LiVE88.5 Big Money Shot Spotlight in Ottawa, and as a supporting act for such artists as The Stanfields at Mavericks and The PepTides at the legendary Black Sheep Inn. Their debut album, titled 'Musket Funk' was recorded and co-produced by Dave Draves of Little Bullhorn Prods and was released in September of 2015, with its first single, "Time to Move
On", featuring guest vocals by members of The PepTides, receiving airplay on Live88.5 FM. Having recently been selected to perform at the 2016 HOPE Volleyball Summerfest, on top of a number of showcases in Toronto lined up, the Bristol Hum shows no signs of slowing down in the new year.
