Bio
Brock Shannon had a unique childhood. His family includes The Great Blondini and The Flying Wallendas, and the tight rope walking life was pushed upon him from birth. When he learned to walk, he learned to walk on a tight rope. He stopped training when he developed an anxiety for heights at the age of five. Post-circus life was strange too. Music was a tool of the devil in his step-fathers house. He was finally allowed to listen to the radio at the age of fourteen. Rebelliously, he picked up a guitar and started teaching himself how to get his fingers to form the chords and express himself musically. Brock is transitioning from singing in his bedroom to singing in the studio and on the stage where he is joined by drummer/multi-instrumentalist Bryce Abood, John Bomhoff, one of the best lead guitarists in Kansas and Hans Drachenberg on bass. The Brittle Lens has a unique hi-fi indie Kansas sound that ambitiously mixes the styles of the biting voice of John Lennon, the melancholy lyrics of Bright Eyes, and the pop sensibilities of The Smashing Pumpkins with undeniable influences of jazz, folk and blues. We would like to thank Jaz January for his cover art which can be seen on our site and CD. Check out myspace.com/thebrittlelens2 for our more acoustic based songs and demos of upcoming songs.
