The Broadcast Union

 Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

If Barenaked Ladies and Toad the Wet Sprocket hung out at a party and decided to write music after all the guests had left, the sound of the Broadcast Union would be the result. An eclectic fusion of rock and acoustic pop.

Biography

With a brand new vision and two new members, Grand Rapids’ acoustic-pop-rock group, The Broadcast Union, utilizes their unique blend of vocals, harmonies, and instrumental work to put their stamp on the West-Michigan music scene. The musical pedigrees of band members Ryan Cunningham (guitar, vocals), Robert Deel (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Harmon (drums), and Kristine Waide (bass, vocals) are the very definition of eclectic – with backgrounds that vary from brutal heavy metal, progressive rock, and blues to jazz and classical; their differences create an electric tension which breathes a relevant vitality worthy of national attention. Fans can always expect meticulous and intelligent original music along with the occasional quirkily arranged cover.
In 2009, The Broadcast Union released their first CD Believe Me Later. The five song EP features all original music in the unplugged tradition and was lauded as being “an immaculate recording” from Recoil Magazine. In the fall of 2010, the full band will release their new full-length CD that features a collection of new material and updated favorites. With a new website, CD release party and plenty of other surprises up their sleeves, The Broadcast Union will continue their efforts to bring you their best in eclectic songcraft.
