The Broadway Bullies | Sassy and classy.

I had the pleasure of checking out The Broadway Bullies a couple of months ago at the Electric Owl. Now residing in Hell-A, these guys came back to perform in their beloved hometown of Vancouver. Having released their second EP, Shake My Bones, in 2014 these four rocking dudes prove to be an unquestionably good time.

The four band members, Angus Mcneilly on vocals, Christo Paulson on guitar, Zach O’Reilly on bass and Mason Amlee on drums, have known each other since 2007. Growing up in the same community helped the Broadway Bullies to establish a community surrounding their music from the start.

The Bullies as a whole have great chemistry on stage and seem to balance each other out when they perform live. The Broadway Bullies are passionate and intentional when they perform funky songs like ‘Your Momma Don’t Like Me,’ and ‘Never Love Alone.’ Lead singer, Angus Mcneilly is the star, whether you like it or not. He bounces around from every possible angle on stage, sticks his tongue out an uncomfortable amount of times, rips off his shirt far too early in the game and I am pretty sure I saw him drool too. For some reason this amount of in your face rock and roll works for The Broadway Bullies because you can’t help but notice they are truly having a great time.

I have a hard time defining the type of music the boys play. I realize now that The Broadway Bullies don’t need to be labeled anything. In fact, I don’t think they want to be labeled. They are just making music that they like and we happen to like too. Simple. - HUSH Magazine
